At Penn State York, students in the Smart Systems Integration Lab work alongside Dr. Neda Bazyar Shourabi to tackle real-world challenges in transportation and smart infrastructure. Through hands-on research and experiential learning, they're developing the skills to lead, innovate and make a difference in their communities.

Penn State York FBLA students will compete at the 2026 FBLA Collegiate National Leadership Conference in Las Vegas, representing the campus following a record-setting year that included 42 state awards and 28 national qualifications.

A well-deserved recognition for Jeff Barkdoll, athletic director at Penn State York, who was recently featured in Penn State’s “We Are!” employee recognition series.

Jeff was recognized for his leadership and commitment to student-athletes following an incredible year for Penn State York athletics, including conference championships in golf, women’s volleyball, men’s basketball and women’s basketball — along with a national championship in men’s basketball.

Congratulations, Jeff, and thank you for the impact you continue to make on Penn State York students, athletics and campus community!

Exploring possibilities. Inspiring futures.

Today, seventh-grade students from across York and Lancaster counties gathered at Penn State York for Pathways To Your Future — a long-running program introducing students to careers in science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics (STEAM).

Shining a light on prevention.

Students in Penn State York’s Health and Human Development Division, led by Dr. Jennie Dilworth, adjunct instructor, hosted a program and candlelight vigil this April focused on child abuse and neglect prevention.

During the event, Dilworth recognized the efforts of each student. All participated in various ways, collectively planning and implementing the event to raise public awareness.

“These students didn’t just learn about the issue—they took action,” Dilworth said. “Their work reflects a deep commitment to raising awareness and supporting children and families in our community.”

This annual tradition, led by Human Development and Family Studies students since 2011, reflects the power of education in action.

The SIFMA Foundation recently posted a press release congratulating our members for placing 1st and 2nd in FBLA's spring semester Stock Market Game. The SIFMA Foundation has partnered with FBLA for the past 20 years to run the Stock Market Game in order to give students experience to real-world investing and personal finance. The Stock Market Game is a simulation that gives teams a virtual $100,000 to make real-time investment decisions.

Our FBLA chapter placed 1st , 2nd , and 7th out of 25 collegiate teams. The 1st place team was Darien Reimold and Caovinh Nguyen. The 2nd place team was Dev Mehta, Chandragupta Jejurkar, and Yashraj Phadtare. The 7th place team was Kevin Gonzalez, Domenic Sciortino, and Sam Pham. We are so proud of our members for placing and representing our chapter, as well as Penn State York so well!

My name is Sara, and I graduated from HDFS. I completed my internship at Paradise Elementary in Intensive learning support, where I supported students with different disabilities in math, reading, and writing. My HDFS degree has helped me better understand and manage students with emotional and behavioral needs as well as building a structured, safe environment for the students.
