"I chose Gamma Psi because I identified with the sorority's beliefs. Seeing the members active in some of the most important parts of campus life as individuals signified to me that this was a diverse and dynamic group- and those are two terms I hope describe me as well. As I began my pledge period, there was no doubt in my mind that I had found a new home. The family I have now in this sisterhood is incomparable, and I'm so honored every time I wear my letters. "My freshman year, Greek life was well outside my interests. I focused on two things: school and basketball. Two of my teammates/role models were in ΓΨ, and they didn't seem like the 'sorority type.' That being true, their love for the organization encouraged me to learn more. During rush I discovered how different everybody was, and Gamma Psi felt like home for me. It is a beautiful melting pot of different people, brought together for a common goal. Had I not joined Gamma Psi, I wouldn't have thought to befriend the variety of women that I call my sisters. My bigs were leaders on campus and I still aspire to follow in their footsteps. I was terribly shy, too, but my pledge sisters drew me in and let me be my goofiest self with them. Local greek life is so diverse and helps you branch out and become sisters with people you otherwise wouldn't even know. "Joining a Greek organization was completely unexpected from me. I've always been a tomboy so I never seemed like the 'sorority' type. But what I soon discovered was that at Young Harris, Local Greek life is so different. They are full of history and tradition unique to Young Harris College. My sisterhood is full of my absolute best friends that I never dreamed I would have as a freshman, let alone for the rest of my life. Going Greek has allowed me the opportunity to be involved in a different part of the campus community. It has made my last 3 years one of the most special times of my life." -Ashley Knox
