We're so proud of Fred Bock (BA '89, double-major in Theatre and TV/Radio/Film) who recently had a Detroit homecoming, and brought The Tonight Show along to say whatupdoe!

Fred, who grew up in Ypsilanti, now lights up your screens as Lighting Director for The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Last week, he returned with the cast and crew to shoot a road show in Detroit. It’s moments like these that remind us how far talent from our community can reach!

Fred has been with The Tonight Show since Jimmy Fallon took over in 2014, designing the lighting look for NBC’s historic Studio 6B at 30 Rockefeller Center. His career includes lighting design work on many NBC productions, including Late Night with Conan O’Brien. Over the years, he's been nominated for multiple Prime Time Emmy Awards.

To Fred: thank you for doing what you do — for pushing creative, technical excellence, for representing CMTA, and for showing students everywhere that you can build a world-class career without ever forgetting where you come from.

Tomorrow is our Fall meeting with all of our faculty, staff, and GAs and the Eastern Michigan University College of Arts & Sciences Fall kick-off with folks from around campus coming back to get ready for school on Monday! Today is the calm before the chaos ensues. While we collectively catch our breath, let's celebrate the arrival of our new Assistant Director of Forensics Raechel Zoellick. Rachel is joining us from Illinois State University, where she completed her Master's degree. She has been highly successful as both a competitor and a coach in Illinois and is excited to join our Eastern Michigan University Forensic Team Raechel recently presented a panel at National Communication Association's 110th annual convention called "Get on board the Mentorship: Building Lasting Connections in Forensics Coaching Staffs." In addition to her ADOF responsibilities, Rachel will also be teaching as a full-time lecturer and playing all the board games. Welcome to CMTA Raechel!

Welcome to the CMTA family Travis Fox! Travis joins us TODAY, relocating to Michigan from Oregon. Travis has more than 25 years in the entertainment industry, most recently working with Laika Studios as a puppet fabrication supervisor. He holds an MFA in puppetry from the University of Connecticut and is excited to be transitioning from the industry into the classroom. Travis will be teaching courses and mentoring students in our Entertainment Design & Technology program as well as designing for Eastern Michigan University Theatre. It's going to be an exciting year with lots of new faces around .
