*EMU Interior Design & Construction Management Collaboration at Saline High School*

On Friday, October 31, faculty from EMU’s Interior Design (IDE) and Construction Management (CNST) programs visited Ms. Lauran Williams’ interior design classes at Saline High School.

Dr. Diane Guevara, and Professor Michelle Belt (IDE), supported by Dr. Soujanya Pillala and Professor Adam Bogedain (CNST), led an engaging session to: recruit future Interior Design majors and highlight the career advantages of EMU’s Construction Management minor for interior designers

We were joined by two outstanding EMU students— Vivian Mergler and Ethan Dowling—who are pursuing Interior Design with a Construction Management minor.

Activities included:
✔ Designing a house
✔ Knowledge checks on design fundamentals
✔ Virtual reality experiences
✔ Print reading skills for industry success

Both programs offer hands-on, project-based learning using state-of-the-art technology to prepare students for professional careers.

Fall 2025 Construction Management Industry Career Fair at EMU

The Construction Management Program in the School of Engineering at GameAbove College of Engineering and Technology Eastern Michigan University proudly hosted its Fall Industry Career Fair on October 23, 2025. This year, we welcomed 48 companies to campus — a testament to the strength of our industry partnerships and the reputation of our program.

We were honored to have many of our long-standing partners in attendance, including Woods Construction & Interiors, DeMaria, Ideal Contracting, Granger Construction, Turner Construction Company Construction, and many others. A special highlight was welcoming the Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC), reflecting our ongoing commitment to diversity and inclusion in the construction industry.

I would like to acknowledge Professor Adam Bogedain for leading this effort over the past five years, and Professor Soujanya Pillala for her invaluable support in making this event a success.

To all participating companies — thank you for your continued trust in our students and program. Your engagement plays a vital role in shaping the future of our graduates.

Congratulations to Ramsey Saymuah, MBA, an alumnus of the Construction Management Program at Eastern Michigan University, on his recent professional accomplishments. It’s always rewarding to see EMU graduates making meaningful contributions to the construction industry and advancing in their careers.

On June 5, 2025, he was appointed by Governor Gretchen Whitmer to the State Construction Code Commission at State of Michigan - Bureau of Construction Codes. The Commission oversees the development and enforcement of Michigan’s construction codes, helping to ensure the safety, integrity, and sustainability of the built environment statewide.

Congratulations to Monse Pastrano!

Monse graduated with a Master of Science in Construction Management from the GameAbove College of Engineering and Technology at Eastern Michigan University.

Throughout her time at EMU, Monse was an exemplary student in the Construction Management graduate program. She was awarded a graduate assistantship, where she made significant contributions to the Interior Design program. Her work included assisting with teaching, tutoring students in the lab, and actively participating in outreach initiatives.

Monse has secured a position as a Field Engineer at Turner Construction Company where she earned two certifications from Barton Malow: BIM 360 Project Admin Training and BIM 360 Subcontractor and Field Training, further demonstrating her commitment to professional development.

We are proud of Monse, and all that she has accomplished. Her hard work and dedication serve as an inspiration to us all.

The School of Engineering at GameAbove College of Engineering and Technology proudly hosted students sponsored by DAPCEP (Detroit Area Pre-College Engineering Program). This program provides high-quality STEM education to metropolitan Detroit youth and is dedicated to empowering talented and capable students of color.

During their visit, students explored the Woods Construction-Construction Management Lab, where they gained insights into the field of Construction Management. Dr. Suleiman Ashur, alongside his Ph.D. student Alrosan, led an engaging session showcasing the practical applications of Construction Management to students.

Students learned about constructing wooden storage sheds, designed and built by sophomore students from the Construction Management and Interior Design programs. This project is part of the Construction Systems course and is completed under the guidance of Professor Adam Bogedain.

The program, led by Dr. Muhammad Ahmed, Professor of Engineering, offered a diverse range of activities during the visit. In addition to the Construction Management Lab visit, students had the opportunity to explore the 3D Lab, the Virtual Reality Lab, the Autonomous Security Lab, and other cutting-edge facilities at the GameAbove College of Engineering And Technology.
