Every day, 6 Michigan students are expelled from school and many more are suspended or absent for a variety of reasons. Every empty chair in school represents a complex story and missed opportunity to learn and grow.

We are proud to partner with Ypsilanti Community High School art students and teacher, Lynne Settles, and Detroit Community High School and art teacher Joye Ofei, on an art exhibit called the Empty Chair Project. Students used found, vintage chairs and desks to explore a true story of an empty chair in schools across Michigan.
