Rising senior neuroscience major Brooke Lopo will be spending her summer in the Ramnath Student Fellowship, a one-month elective clinical rotation in neurosurgery at the University of Michigan. Ramnath Fellows have the opportunity to shadow neurosurgical faculty and engage in clinicals that will prepare students for their future careers.

Senior cybersecurity major Matt Baker was accepted into the IT Lab Summer Security Fellowship Program at Carnegie-Mellon University for summer 2026. The program provides an all-expenses-paid, 7-week cybersecurity experience, plus a $2000 stipend and transferable course credit. Matt will have the opportunity to study with the world’s best security, analytics, and policy researchers, take courses in security analytics and policy, and apply his knowledge skills to improve the cybersecurity posture of local organizations.

Please join us in welcoming our new Academic Success Coordinator, Adelaide Roell!

Adelaide graduated from EMU in Winter 2026 with a B.S. in communication sciences and disorders, along with University Honors, Departmental Honors, and Highest Honors. Adelaide will begin the speech-language pathology master's program this fall, and will continue working in the Honors College as the GA for Student Success and Engagement. Adelaide will assist with advising, recruitment and admissions, data management, and student outreach programming, as well as help welcome our incoming freshmen at SOAR.

Graduating senior Maren Romine has been accepted into the Master's program in biomedical sciences at Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI. As an added bonus, Maren has been invited to use her remaining NCAA eligibility to swim competitively for Marquette's Division I swim team. Maren will graduate in May with a B.S. in neuroscience magna cm laude, a minor in math, and University Honors. This Eagle is now becoming a Golden Eagle. Way to soar, Maren!

Zane Phillips, a junior pursuing a double major in entertainment design and technology and communication, received an Honors College travel grant to attend the Southeastern Theatre Conference in Lexington, KY, in early March. The event focused on providing access to opportunities in theatre across the country. Zane stated, “Through volunteering at the conference, I was able to meet some wonderful people within the entertainment industry who have helped me bring back knowledge to EMU Theatre.” Way to soar, Zane!
