The GHPR 633 Museum Experience Development class is officially counting down to our big exhibition opening on April 21—less than a month away! šŸŽ‰
Over spring break, the archives team cleared the gallery space in Halle Library to make room for our exhibit. Since returning, we’ve been collaborating as a class to shape our vision and plan how to bring the space to life.
More details coming soon—stay tuned as we get closer to opening day! šŸ‘€

A special thanks to Larry Hutchinson, exhibit designer, for visiting our GHPR 633 Museum Experience Development class and sharing his expertise! ✨
We loved learning about his journey into the museum designing world and getting his feedback on our upcoming exhibit, ā€œHere’s to Roosevelt High – The Story of the Rough Riders.ā€
It was especially exciting to show him the exhibit space and hear his tips and tricks on how to make the most of it. šŸŽØ

Our GHPR 633 Museum Experience Development class is bringing history to life—and you can be part of it. Just weeks ago, students had the opportunity to explore Roosevelt-related treasures from the Archives.
If you’re a Roosevelt alum with memorabilia, artifacts, photos, or meaningful pieces from your time. Consider sharing them—through a loan or donation—to help shape this one-of-a-kind experience. Your story could become part of something bigger, inspiring future generations and preserving the Roosevelt legacy in a powerful, tangible way.
Interested in contributing? Leave a comment below, and someone will reach out or feel free to email Megan McCombs at [email protected], one of our graduate students working on the project.

Special thanks to Alexis Braun Marks, the University's Archivist, for her guidance and support in making this experience possible. And we can't forget about Tinker our unofficial class critic who has occasionally sit in on class sessions with us 🐾

There’s a new temporary exhibit at Ypsilanti Historical Society!

Over the fall semester, students in Professor Nancy’s heritage preservation field project course recreated the room of a Rosie the Riveter who lived at 220 North Huron when it was a boarding house.

In four Saturday sessions, students researched the house’s inhabitants during World War II. They also gathered historical photographs of the rooms of boarding house residents during WWII and found era-appropriate furnishings and ephemera.

You can see the exhibit for yourself at the Ypsilanti Historical Society, Tuesdays-Saturday, 2-5pm.
