Congratulations to Trustee Mike Bennett!

Zane State College is proud to share that Michael Bennett of Zanesville has been reappointed by Governor Mike DeWine to serve another term on the Zane State College Board of Trustees, effective September 4, 2026 through July 31, 2029.

Mike has been a dedicated voice on our Board, and we're grateful for his continued commitment to advancing Zane State's mission and supporting our students, faculty, and staff.

"We're thrilled to have Mike continue his service on our Board of Trustees," said Zane State College President Joseph Keating. "His experience and dedication to our students and community make him a tremendous asset as we continue moving Zane State forward."

Reminder: Zane State College is closed on Monday, September 7, in observance of Labor Day. All office operations and classes will resume Tuesday, September 8.

Labor Day dates back to September 5, 1882, as movement in New York City to honor the contributions and achievements of American workers. It became a federal holiday in 1894 when President Grover Cleveland signed it into law, designating the first Monday in September as a national holiday.

As we recognize this holiday, we're grateful for the hard work of our students, faculty, and staff who make Zane State a great place to learn and grow.

A degree can change more than a résumé. It can change what comes next. 💙

For 25 years, Zane State College and Franklin University have worked together to help students continue their education without leaving their communities behind.

Kayla Taylor is one of those students.

After stepping away from college to become a mom, Kayla returned years later while working full time. Through the 3+1 partnership, she built on the credits she had already earned, completed her bachelor’s degree online and took the next step in her career with the State of Ohio.

Her words are a reminder of what can happen when you keep going:
“Regardless of what happens in life, I just have to believe in myself.”

Nearly 700 students have earned bachelor’s degrees through this partnership over the past 25 years. We’re proud to celebrate the people and stories behind that number.

🎉 Big news from Zane State College! Our Bachelor of Applied Sciences in Electrical Engineering Technology has officially earned accreditation from ABET's Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission!

This milestone reflects the hard work of our faculty, staff, and students, and it means graduates of this program are held to a rigorous, nationally recognized standard of quality in engineering technology education. ABET accreditation is a mark of excellence that employers, licensing boards, and other institutions trust, giving our students a real edge as they head into the workforce.

A huge thank-you to everyone who helped make this happen, and congratulations to our Electrical Engineering Technology students and alumni!

Zane State College was proud to take part in today's launch of the JobsOhio Technician Path, a new statewide initiative aimed at closing Ohio's technician talent gap, hosted by the Zanesville-Muskingum County Chamber of Commerce

President Joseph Keating. joined leaders from JobsOhio and Ohio SE in Zanesville for the regional rollout of this program, which will provide Ohio employers up to $10,000 per employee who completes an approved technician training pathway, whether through an associate degree, a technical certificate, or a registered apprenticeship.

Right now, for every trained technician in Ohio, five technician positions go unfilled. The Technician Path is designed to close that gap by connecting employers directly with training partners like Zane State across advanced manufacturing, life sciences, aerospace and defense, and other high-demand fields.

We're proud to stand alongside JobsOhio and OhioSE in building the skilled workforce Southeastern Ohio needs, and to keep serving as a training partner employers and students can count on.

Our neighbors across Southeast Ohio have had a hard few weeks. The historic flooding that hit our communities has upended homes and lives right here in our own backyard. Our hearts are with every family working to recover, and with everyone in our region who has been impacted.

For those looking to help out, United Way of Muskingum, Perry & Morgan Counties is calling for volunteers on Monday, August 25 to pack disaster relief boxes — shelf-stable food, personal care items, and other essentials for families affected.

Whether you can give a few hours or a full shift, every set of hands helps get relief to families faster. Scan the QR code on the flyer or visit their website for more information.
