Global Grant Announcement

IAPS - International Association of Physics Students - and our OC invites you, a team of Kickass students, currently undertaking bachelor or master studies in physics or related disciplines, to submit an application for the PLANCKS Global Grant!

IAPS is willing to support the participation of up to 10 teams in this unique edition of PLANCKS, by covering the registration fee of all the team members. The goal is to allow any student and team, independently of their background and financial status, to attend this physics hackathon.

To apply, your team needs to prepare and submit a letter of motivation and a short video explaining why you want to take part in our ! You can also submit documents, if you want to, outlining your financial background and the need for support.

Don't be shy, think outside the box!

Lightin' Life! 2020: Aplicaciones de la Luz y contaminación lumínica.


"Diversidad, Inclusión y Equidad en la óptica y la fotónica"

Uno de los temas más importantes en la sociedad y en cualquier organización es la inclusión, diversidad y equidad que existe en la comunidad.

Samuel Serna, nos estará hablando sobre estos temas y como avanza en la Ciencia y especialmente en la óptica y la fotónica.

Samuel, doctor en Ciencias fotónicas, y profesor asistente en la Universidad Estatal de Bridgewater, así como profesor invitado del Instituto de Tecnología de Massachusetts. Embajador de la Sociedad Óptica (OSA). Se encuentra desarrollando un programa de pre-grado en Ingeniería, Fotónica y Óptica; el único en la región noroeste de los Estados Unidos y la primera ingeniería en una universidad estatal de Massachusetts. Coordina la creación de un laboratorio para la caracterización de circuitos fotónicos integrados en diversos dominios electro-ópticos, diversas bandas espectrales de operación y explorando fenómenos de orden superior que abren la puerta a dispositivos cuánticos integrados.

Hoy, cómo parte final de las charlas del evento, te presentamos a Carlos López-Mariscal.

El Dr. Carlos López-Mariscal es el Chief Scientific Officer y fundador de la empresa Underwater Photnics. Es profesor asistente en Appalachian State University, en Carolina del Norte, embajador y miembro senior de The Optical Society (OSA), y miembro del SPIE.

Se especializa, entre otras cosas, en Pinzas Ópticas, tema del que nos hablará y nos comentará este 19 de noviembre.
