PHAN CHAU TRINH UNIVERSITY OF MEDICINE AND PHARMACY HOSPITAL APPLIES REGENERATIVE MEDICINE, EXPANDING MINIMALLY INVASIVE TREATMENT OPTIONS

Phan Chau Trinh University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital (PCTU) has recently implemented a range of advanced techniques under its Regenerative Medicine Unit, expanding treatment options with minimally invasive approaches that combine modern technology and biological therapies.

In the field of musculoskeletal medicine, therapies such as autologous adipose-derived stem cells and Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) are being applied to treat osteoarthritis and certain soft tissue conditions around the joints.

These methods primarily involve injection or micro-intervention techniques aimed at regenerating damaged tissues, improving mobility, reducing chronic pain, and shortening recovery time compared to traditional surgery.

In dermatology, the unit offers a wide range of treatments from basic to advanced. Cryotherapy using liquid nitrogen is applied to treat warts, nodules, keloids, and papillomas.

Among high-tech treatments, CO₂ laser and fractional laser are used to address various skin conditions such as skin tags, hyperkeratosis, atrophic scars, wrinkles, and signs of aging.

Additionally, biological therapies such as PRP continue to be used for treating acne scars and skin rejuvenation. Microneedling combined with topical medications helps improve pigmentation issues like melasma and freckles, while also supporting treatment for hair loss, stretch marks, and wrinkles.

Other specialized indications include Triamcinolone injections for keloid treatment, subcutaneous injections for hair loss, and TCA application for atrophic scars.

The unit also performs procedures such as skin biopsies for diagnostic purposes, and surgical treatments for ingrown or curved nails, contributing to a comprehensive care and treatment process.

The simultaneous implementation of these techniques allows for personalized treatment plans, flexibly combining technology and biological therapies tailored to each specific condition.

As the demand for healthcare and aesthetic services continues to grow—especially for minimally invasive methods with fast recovery—regenerative medicine is becoming a key trend in many healthcare institutions. Strategic investment in this field is expected to enhance treatment quality and expand access to modern medical services for people in the Central region of Vietnam.

HALFWAY THROUGH THESIS PROPOSAL REVIEW: WHAT DO LECTURERS REALLY CARE ABOUT?
After half of the committees have completed reviewing graduation thesis (KLTN) proposals, one common pattern becomes clear:

For many students, this is the first time standing before a panel to present their own research topic.
There may be moments of nervousness, even questions that make you pause for a few seconds. But that’s completely normal in this process.

📌 From the sessions so far, lecturers tend to focus on:
Is the topic truly necessary?
Not just “interesting,” but does it address a real-world problem?
Are the objectives clear and well-focused?
Even a slight deviation can require major revisions.
Is the methodology appropriate and feasible?
A good idea that cannot be carried out won’t lead to meaningful results.
Do students truly understand their own topic?
Not just presenting, but how you respond, defend, and justify your choices.
The questions may feel challenging, but their purpose isn’t to make things difficult—it’s to help refine and strengthen your proposal from the start.

📝 Small but valuable tips for the review session:
✔️ Bring a notebook to jot down feedback
These are exactly what you’ll need to revise afterward.
✔️ Prepare a concise explanation of your research objectives
This is almost always asked.
✔️ Have your proposal ready for quick reference
It helps you stay clear when explaining specific parts.
✔️ Be honest if you’re unsure
Recognizing gaps is more important than forcing an answer.
✔️ Listen to understand what needs improvement

The same feedback can lead to very different outcomes depending on how well you grasp it.
👉 What matters isn’t how many questions you’re asked, but how much clearer your proposal becomes afterward.

PCTU INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS EXPERIENCE THE “WORLD’S MOST BEAUTIFUL SHOW” IN HOI AN

With the aim of creating a learning environment closely connected to real-life experiences and enhancing multicultural interaction, on April 15, Phan Chau Trinh University (PCTU) organized the program “Discover Hoi An – A Journey of Heritage and Cultural Connection” for international students currently interning at the university.

This is one of the key activities within PCTU’s international exchange and student hosting program, designed to provide students with opportunities to experience Vietnamese culture and society alongside their academic and professional training.

As part of the program, students from the University of Birmingham (United Kingdom) took part in a field trip to Hoi An – one of Vietnam’s most iconic cultural and heritage destinations.

During the trip, students:
✨ Explored local cuisine and discovered the unique cultural identity of Hoi An
✨ Connected and interacted with Vietnamese students in an open and friendly environment
✨ Visited Hoi An Memories Land – a space that vividly recreates the history and culture of the ancient town
✨ Participated in artistic activities and special mini shows such as The Queen of Sericulture, Tiger Hunting Camp, Princess Ngoc Hoa’s Wedding, Water Procession, General Recruitment, and more

The highlight of the program was the real-life performance Hoi An Memories Show – a large-scale artistic production praised by international media as the “most beautiful show in the world.”

With an outdoor stage spanning 25,000 square meters, nearly 500 performers, and a modern sound and lighting system, the show vividly recreates over 400 years of Hoi An’s history through five emotional chapters.

More than just a single activity, this program is part of a broader experiential series developed by PCTU for international students — ranging from extracurricular activities, field trips, and camping to cultural exploration. Through these experiences, students not only gain academic knowledge but also truly immerse themselves in a multicultural environment and develop a deeper understanding of Vietnam.

ESTABLISHING PARTNERSHIP WITH A JAPANESE HEALTHCARE GROUP, EXPANDING INTERNATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR HEALTH SCIENCES STUDENTS

On the afternoon of April 15, 2026, Phan Chau Trinh University (PCTU) held a meeting with representatives of Kameda Medical Group (Japan) to discuss and orient the establishment of a partnership in training and healthcare workforce development.

During the meeting, both sides focused on key topics such as: collaborative training–practice models, workforce demands in the medical field, as well as development plans for healthcare facilities invested by Kameda Group in Vietnam, particularly the project in Da Nang.

One of the highlights of the meeting was the opening of opportunities for PCTU health sciences students to access internship and working environments within an international healthcare system.

▶ Accordingly, medical students, specialist doctors, and nurses will have more options to develop their careers and enhance their professional competencies in a Japanese-standard environment.

Representatives of Kameda Medical Group highly appreciated the training quality and clinical practice orientation of Phan Chau Trinh University, and expressed their desire to build a long-term partnership aimed at connecting high-quality healthcare human resources.

📍The meeting not only contributes to expanding and deepening the University’s international collaboration network, but also brings practical opportunities for PCTU students in their journey of global integration and career development in the healthcare sector.

PSYCHOLOGICAL COUNSELING CENTER: A MENTAL SUPPORT IN MODERN LIFE

In today’s fast-paced world, increasing pressures from study, work, and relationships have left many people—especially students and young adults—experiencing prolonged stress, emotional instability, and even issues such as anxiety and depression. However, not everyone has the skills or a safe space to share and work through these challenges.

In response to this need, the Psychological Counseling Center at Phan Chau Trinh University Hospital is gradually becoming a trusted place where individuals can be professionally heard, respected, and ensured confidentiality.

The center is directly led by Dr. Nguyen Thi Thanh Van, Head of the Department of Psychology at Phan Chau Trinh University, implementing structured and systematic counseling and therapy services.

Located in a private setting within the International Examination Area – Premier Clinic, the center ensures confidentiality and creates a safe environment to build trust and effective intervention.

Each case is approached based on professional assessment and a personalized support plan. Services include:

School counseling for pupils and students
Support for adults dealing with stress, work pressure, and relationship conflicts
Counseling and therapy for psychological disorders such as anxiety, depression, behavioral disorders, and prolonged stress
Organizational and HR counseling to help build sustainable workplaces and personal development

In reality, the number of people seeking counseling services is steadily increasing. This not only reflects the growing psychological pressures in society but also signals a positive shift in awareness: mental health care is becoming an essential need in modern life.

Beyond community support, the center also serves as an important practical training environment for Psychology students (clinical and counseling orientation) at Phan Chau Trinh University. Under the direct guidance of Dr. Nguyen Thi Thanh Van, students are able to:
✅ Observe intake, assessment, and intervention planning processes
✅ Participate in suitable counseling cases based on their competence
✅ Access diverse clinical situations
✅ Develop skills in listening, questioning, and building therapeutic relationships

Learning in a real-world environment and engaging with actual cases helps students build structured clinical thinking, while also understanding professional roles and boundaries—forming a solid foundation for becoming future psychologists.

📍Therefore, the Psychological Counseling Center at Phan Chau Trinh University Hospital is not only a place for those seeking professional support, but also a safe space where individuals are listened to, understood, and gradually guided toward balance in life.

HOSPITAL MANAGEMENT: THE FIELD BEHIND THE OPERATION OF MODERN HEALTHCARE SYSTEMS

For a long time, many applicants and parents have felt uncertain when hearing about the “Hospital Management” major. Some assume this field is only for those aiming for leadership roles or those from families that already own healthcare facilities.

However, this perception does not fully reflect the true nature of the field.

In reality, Hospital Management trains professionals capable of organizing, coordinating, and operating healthcare institutions. Students are equipped with comprehensive knowledge of healthcare system management, including strategic planning, healthcare finance and accounting, human resource management, as well as quality management and patient safety.

In addition, the program covers medical equipment and supplies management, the application of information technology systems such as HIS, LIS, and PACS, along with legal issues, health insurance, healthcare marketing, and patient experience management.

With this foundation, graduates can take on operational, administrative, and managerial roles in healthcare settings such as public and private hospitals, clinics, or medical centers. Specifically, they may work in areas like human resource management, finance, operations coordination, equipment management, administration, healthcare marketing, and quality control and improvement of medical services.

Unlike the common perception of immediately becoming a “boss,” graduates of this major typically begin in specialist, coordinator, or departmental management roles. With experience, they gradually advance to higher leadership positions.

A notable point is that training environments are increasingly practice-oriented. At Phan Chau Trinh University (PCTU), Hospital Management students study and practice within an integrated Institute–University ecosystem, especially at Phan Chau Trinh University Hospital—an institution accredited by AACI (American Accreditation Commission International).

✍🏻 AACI is a rigorous international accreditation system that comprehensively evaluates service quality and patient safety in hospitals. Learning in such a standardized environment allows students to clearly understand how a healthcare system operates according to international standards—from patient admission processes and medical record management to quality control and service improvement.

This advantage not only enhances students’ professional competence but also expands career opportunities, especially as the healthcare sector increasingly emphasizes management and service quality.

💥 In the context of modern healthcare systems requiring close coordination between clinical expertise and operational management, Hospital Management is gradually becoming a suitable choice for those who wish to work in healthcare without pursuing direct clinical treatment.

CONTINUING THE DEFENSE OF GRADUATION THESIS PROPOSALS

On the morning of April 13, at Phan Chau Trinh University (PCTU), the academic atmosphere of the new week was kicked off with the defense of graduation thesis proposals by K21 General Medicine students before Council No. 4.

Although this marks the initial step in their research journey, the defense was conducted in a formal and academically rigorous manner, with the full presence of the Council Chair, Secretary, and reviewers. Each proposal was carefully presented, analyzed, and provided with detailed feedback—from research direction and methodology to practical applicability in the medical field.

Organizing thesis proposal defenses not only helps students clearly define their research roadmap but also highlights the close guidance and support of the faculty throughout the process of training future healthcare professionals at PCTU.

💥 Previously, K21 students had completed 4 out of 12 proposal review councils, demonstrating a consistent, well-coordinated, and serious implementation process.

Information about upcoming defense sessions will be continuously updated on Fanpage.

💥 Shaping Student Competencies Through an International-Standard Hospital Environment

When the Phan Chau Trinh Medical University Hospital achieves AACI international accreditation, its value extends beyond the quality of healthcare services. It also creates a distinctive learning and clinical training environment for students in the health sciences.

The first key difference lies in how students engage in clinical practice. Instead of merely observing or following experience-based instructions, students learn and work within a system standardized according to international protocols. From patient admission procedures and medical documentation to treatment and follow-up processes, everything is clearly structured, enabling students to develop a professional working mindset from the very beginning.

One of the core values of AACI is patient safety, and this is exactly what students are exposed to daily in their clinical environment. Adherence to protocols, error control, teamwork in patient care, and real-time problem-solving are no longer confined to classroom theory but gradually become part of students’ routine practice.

In addition, studying in an AACI-accredited environment helps students avoid inconsistencies in practice across different settings. Standardized and clearly defined procedures allow students to learn and perform correctly from the outset, rather than having to adjust later when entering professional workplaces.

This environment also requires close collaboration among all departments, from physicians and nurses to support staff. As a result, students not only develop clinical competencies but also enhance teamwork, medical communication, and real-world problem-solving skills.

In the long term, being trained in an internationally accredited hospital provides students with a clear advantage upon graduation. It is not only about knowledge or technical skills, but about a structured, controlled approach to work that consistently prioritizes patient safety.

Studying in an AACI-standard environment means that students are not only acquiring medical knowledge but are also exposed to the operation of a modern healthcare system—where every standard is designed to ensure quality and safety in patient care.
