HCMUT EXPANDING GLOBAL OUTREACH IN INDIA

This April, we successfully participated in the Education Worldwide India Fair in New Delhi, in which Vietnam was proudly introduced as an emerging destination for high-quality and affordable education.

This participation marked another important step in HCMUT’s international outreach efforts, allowing us to strengthen connections with one of the world’s fastest-growing education markets.

HCMUT booth attracted significant interest from students, parents, agents, school counselors and university representatives seeking opportunities for academic collaboration with Vietnamese institutions.

Understanding the great focus on innovation, technology and healthcare, we believe HCMUT’s strengths in fields such as Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Biomedical Engineering, and Computational Biotechnology strongly align with the aspirations of Indian students pursuing future careers in STEM.

Through international education fairs and global engagement activities, HCMUT continues to expand our international presence while promoting Vietnam as a dynamic and globally connected study destination.

ENGINEERING WITH PURPOSE, INNOVATING FOR PEOPLE

"A Mobile-Based Flood Alert and Emergency Rescue Support System" was a project developed by a group of 6 HCMUT students named Aqua Guard. Its purpose is to monitor water levels and flooded areas, deliver early warnings, and support real-time rescue coordination. Accessible via both web and mobile platforms, the system serves as a critical tool for rescue forces, local residents, and volunteers during natural disaster emergencies.

Competing against 23 outstanding teams from leading engineering and technology universities nationwide in Vietnam, AQUAGUARD proudly won First Prize at 8th EPICS (a competition for Engineering Projects in Community Service). Notably, the team members were also First Prize winners of OISP Presentation Contest 2025.

With a human-centered design approach, strong teamwork, and a compelling presentation delivered entirely in English, the team impressed the judging panel with the project’s practical applicability and meaningful social impact.

[TNE] SHAPING NETWORK THINKING IN A GLOBAL TECHNOLOGY LANDSCAPE

Dr. Baihe Ma, a PhD graduate from the University of Technology Sydney, is currently a lecturer of Network Fundamentals in the HCMUT-UTS Transnational Education (TNE) Program - a core subject that builds a strong foundation for IT and cybersecurity fields.

💡 His classes go beyond theory: students not only understand how network systems operate but also gain hands-on experience with tools like Cisco devices and Wireshark to solve real-world problems. TNE students have greatly impressed him with their proactiveness, curiosity, and continuous drive to expand their knowledge.

🚀 With strong expertise and an industry-oriented approach, Dr. Ma equips students not only to understand technology but to confidently apply it in an international environment.

[TNE] Computer Networks: Insights from an International Expert 🌐
Recently, TNE students had the opportunity to attend a seminar by Prof. Nguyễn Thị Mai Trang, a visiting professor under the VNU350 Program of Vietnam National University, who shared valuable insights on Computer Networks to further strengthen their studies in AI and IT.

Prof. Mai Trang is an alumna of HCMUT. She was awarded a scholarship to study in France, where she completed her Master’s degree at the University of Versailles and her PhD at University of Paris 6. She spent many years at Sorbonne University and is currently a Professor of Computer Engineering at Sorbonne Paris Nord University, where she leads the Network research group at L2TI (“Laboratoire de Traitement et Transport de l'Information” - Laboratory of Information Processing and Transmission).

With deep expertise in Future Internet, 5G/6G networks, and cybersecurity, she brought international-standard academic and practical perspectives, helping connect HCMUT students to the global research ecosystem. 🚀

The VNU350 Program is an initiative by Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City aimed at realizing its vision of becoming a leading research university system in Asia. The program focuses on attracting, retaining, and developing outstanding young scientists and top experts, with a target of approximately 350 scholars in the 2024–2030 period.

Unlocking the power of numbers in the AI era!

Data is often called the “new source of fuel” of the 21st century. Billions of bytes are generated every day, but without skilled data scientists, they remain meaningless numbers. Data scientists are the ones who turn raw data into valuable insights and powerful strategies for businesses and organizations.

Starting in 2026, the Data Science program (taught entirely in English) at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology – VNU-HCM (HCMUT) will welcome its first cohort of students. The program goes beyond basic programming, offering an integrated curriculum that combines Mathematics, Applied Statistics, Computer Science, and cutting-edge technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning.

Designed in alignment with international standards from ABET and the ACM (Association for Computing Machinery), the program emphasizes hands-on learning through real-world projects - from data collection with Python and data visualization to building predictive models for applications in healthcare, finance, and e-commerce.
