𝐏𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐒 𝐑𝐄𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐒𝐄

𝗡𝗨𝗦 𝗦𝗶𝗴𝗻𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗙𝗮𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗙𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁.

Tokyo, Japan 22/05/2026 - The National University of Samoa (NUS) has officially signed a contract with Konoike Construction Co. Ltd. for the Improvement of Facilities for the Faculty of Health Science (FOHS), following receipt of the no objection letter from JICA on the evaluation report for the bid submissions from constructors for the project.

The signing ceremony was held at Konoike’s Tokyo Head Office and attended by the Vice-Chancellor and President, Afioga Professor Tuifuisa’a Patila Amosa-Malua, Chief Operating Officer, Leota Sarai Faleupolu Tevita, and Planning Manager, Vaelupemaua Junior Uatisone, representing NUS. Konoike was represented by Mr. Takashi Endo, Executive Officer and General Manager of the International Division, alongside his team. Representatives from Yamash*ta Sekkei Co. Ltd., led by Mr. Kuroda Shingo, were also present.

During the visit, the NUS delegation also met with JICA at its headquarters in Tokyo to reconfirm the collaboration between NUS, JICA, and the Government of Japan in support of this important project. The contract is now being submitted to the JICA office for verification in accordance with the project process.

The University also acknowledges the Consortium of Yamash*ta Sekkei Inc., Fukunaga Architects-Engineers, and Binko International Ltd. for arranging and supporting this official trip.

This milestone marks the beginning of a strategic partnership to deliver upgraded facilities that will strengthen health education, research, and workforce development in Samoa.

Construction is scheduled to commence in early August 2026.
The contract is now being submitted to the JICA office for verification in accordance with the project process.

NUS Celebrates the Closing of International Museum Week.

The National University of Samoa (NUS) was honored to be part of the closing of International Museum Week celebrations in Samoa, highlighting the importance of preserving our heritage, culture, and history.

A special acknowledgement to Aliimalemanu Dr. Bernadette Samau, Head of Department and Senior Lecturer from the Faculty of Business & Entrepreneurship, and the talented Samoan women who shared their inspiring journey of transforming traditional ‘afa weaving into internationally recognized designs.

NUS recognizes and celebrate the hardwork and contributions by these lecturers in preserving Samoa's heritage.

HCH131 Organic and Physical Chemistry students recently took part in an educational field trip to SROS, providing an opportunity to connect classroom learning with practical industry experience.

The visit allowed students to gain valuable insights into scientific processes and applications while strengthening their understanding of chemistry in real-world settings.

NUS at the 50th Annual Pacific Circle Consortium Conference 2026.

The National University of Samoa acknowledges our Dean of the Faculty of Education Tavu'i Dr Niusila Faamanatu-Eteuati for representing NUS at the 50th Annual Pacific Circle Consortium (PCC) Conference 2026, hosted by the College of Education at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. Under the theme “He wa'a He Moku, He Moku He Wa'a,” the conference highlighted the shared journey of Pacific education, leadership, and cultural connection across our region.
