Fourth-year Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) students presented their innovative capstone projects during the Research Colloquium organized by third-year BSIT students on April 30 via Zoom.

The Research Colloquium was formally opened with an inspirational message from Dr. Arvin N. Natividad, Vice President for Administrative and External Affairs (VP-AFA), who commended the students’ perseverance and commitment in completing their research despite challenges.

Panelists included Dr. Jose D. Sanvictore s, Department Head of the Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology; Dr. Zoren P. Mabunga, Research Coordinator of the College of Engineering; and Mr. Francis Ervin F. Pasumbal, Director of the university’s MIS-CIT, who evaluated the projects and offered recommendations for improvement.

The awarding ceremony recognized outstanding capstone projects, with The Best Paper Award given to “TECHCONNECT: A Peer Tutoring Platform for Enhanced Academic Collaboration in the College of Industrial Technology” by Renier B**g F. Remorin, Den Cavin Jarasa, and Hannah Jade E. Gariguez advised by Asst. Prof. Mariebeth Seño and Mr. Don Everett Seño.

The 2nd Best Paper Award went to “COMQUEST: A 2D Educational Role-Playing Game (RPG) Anchored on Computer System Servicing NC II Core Competencies,” by Ivan Gabriel P. Cornel, Frankie Louis A. Lopez, and Bjorn Raven O. Valera, supervised by Asst. Prof. Reynaldo Danganan and co-adviser Mr. Giles Dela Rosa.

Meanwhile, the study “USAD: A Web-Based Tool for Developmental Screening and Progress Monitoring of Students with Autism Spectrum Disorder” by Hace Caryl A. Derilo, Chloe Irene C. Avila, and Rozuji D. Bequillo, mentored by Assoc. Prof. Devie S. Bello and co-adviser Mr. Giles Dela Rosa, earned both the Best Presenter Award and 3rd Best Paper Award.

Closing remarks were delivered by Assoc. Prof. Devie S. Bello, Program Chair of the BSIT, who commended the students for their innovation and commitment to developing meaningful technological solutions. She has also expressed gratitude to the 3rd Year BSIT Students spearheaded by 3rd Year Representative, Francis Reune V. Avila, who organized the event.

The event was conducted under the leadership and guidance of Dr. Ricaryl Catherine P. Cruz, Dean of the College of Industrial Technology (CIT), whose support contributed to its success.

The dust has settled and the throne is occupied. 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗶𝘀𝗲𝘀have officially been crowned the Champions of the 𝗡𝗲𝗼 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗴𝘂𝗲 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁! They’ve earned their rightful place as kings, proving their supremacy on the rift! 🔥

We also honor 𝗣𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗼𝗴𝘀 for their 2nd place finish, showing heart and grit until the very end, and 𝗣𝗘𝗔𝗞for taking 3rd place with a tactical brilliance that kept everyone on their toes.
