‎BREAKING: AAUA SUG President Appoints Nearly 40 Aides & Special Advisers Days After Taking Office

‎The newly elected President of the Adekunle Ajasin University Students’ Union (AAUASU), Folagbade Greatness Ayoola (popularly known as Greatness of AAUASU), has stirred reactions after appointing close to 40 aides and special advisers shortly after assuming office.

‎In an official memo from the Office of the Students’ Union President, the appointments include key positions such as:
‎Chief of Staff: Olayinka Oluwaferanmi Emmanuel
‎Deputy Chief of Staff: Oluwafemi Olalekan Israel
‎Senior Personal Assistant: Omotunwase Success Ayomide
‎Chief Press Secretary: Ajileye Henry Olawale
‎And several others in roles like Director of Media & Publicity, Director of Protocol, etc.

‎There are also Special Advisers on Strategy, Academic Affairs, Students’ Welfare, Security, ICT, Sports, Health, Religious Affairs (Christian & Islamic), Logistics, Fundraising, and many more.
‎According to the Union, the massive appointments are aimed at ensuring “top-notch administration and proper effectiveness” of the presidency.

‎While some students applaud the move as a way to involve more hands in union activities, others are questioning if a Students’ Union really needs such a huge cabinet, comparing it to the bloated structure of Nigerian politics.

‎What’s your take, AAUA students? Is this good governance or political patronage? Drop your thoughts 👇

‎Breaking: Major Changes Coming to UK Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR)

‎The UK government is planning a significant overhaul of the rules for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) -the country’s version of permanent residency.
‎Under the proposed “Earned Settlement” model, the standard qualifying period for most migrants will double from 5 years to 10 years.

‎Key Highlights of the Reforms:
‎10 years will become the new baseline for settlement in most cases.

‎•Faster tracks (3–5 years) for high contributors — such as high earners, entrepreneurs, NHS doctors and nurses, and those with strong English skills.
‎•Longer waits (potentially 15+ years) for lower earners, benefit claimants, or those with irregular immigration history.
‎•Tougher requirements on English language, earnings thresholds, and criminal records.

‎The changes are expected to apply retrospectively to many people already living in the UK on visas.
‎The move is part of the Labour government’s strategy to reduce net migration and ensure only those who make a strong contribution to the UK can settle permanently.

‎Many migrants, especially on Skilled Worker, health & care, and family visas, had planned their lives around the existing 5-year route. Critics argue that changing the rules mid-stay is unfair and could damage the UK’s ability to retain key workers, particularly in the NHS.
‎The proposals have sparked widespread debate, petitions, and calls for exemptions or transitional arrangements.
‎This story is still developing, with consultations and potential legal challenges expected.

‎Breaking: JAMB Keeps 150 as Minimum Cut-Off for Universities 2026/2027

‎The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially announced the minimum cut-off marks for the 2026/2027 admission cycle.
‎Official Minimum Cut-Offs:
‎Universities: 150
‎Polytechnics: 100
‎Colleges of Education: 100

‎Note: This is just the baseline. Most competitive universities will set much higher departmental cut-offs (200, 220+ for courses like Medicine, Law, Engineering, etc.).
‎Meeting the minimum does NOT guarantee admission. Schools will still use aggregate scores and other criteria.
‎Candidates should watch out for their preferred institutions’ specific cut-offs soon.

‎Fear Grips OOU Students as Gunmen Strike Ibogun Campus Again

‎In a disturbing repeat of a recent incident, armed robbers have once again invaded student hostels at Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ibogun Campus (College of Engineering) in Ogun State, leaving students terrified and calling for urgent security intervention.

‎The latest attack occurred in the early hours of Friday, May 8, 2026 (extending into May 9). According to reports, about seven armed hoodlums stormed multiple hostels between 1am and 3am, shooting sporadically and operating for nearly two hours with little resistance.

‎The gunmen broke into rooms, threatened students with death, and robbed them of valuables. They reportedly stole mobile phones from around 15 students and carted away a black Lexus ES 350 belonging to one of the students. No fatalities were reported.

‎Oluwafemi Aderupatan, President of the Nigerian Universities Engineering Students (OOU Ibogun Chapter), confirmed the incident. He expressed deep frustration over the recurring attacks, noting that despite promises made after the previous assault — including visits by the Vice Chancellor and Ogun State Commissioner of Police, and plans for a police post, adequate security measures are still lacking.

‎“The armed robbers, about seven of them, attacked students in their hostels in the early hours of Friday. They were shooting and threatening to kill the students. They robbed about 15 students of their phones and also went away with a black Lexus ES 350...” — Oluwafemi Aderupatan

‎Students have complained of ongoing insecurity in the area for months, with frequent robberies making daily life and studies difficult. Many now live in fear, especially as hostels appear vulnerable at night.

‎The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the latest incident and stated that investigations are underway. Authorities are urged to treat this with the seriousness it deserves.

Discover the simple yet powerful technique that boosts focus, beats procrastination, and skyrockets your productivity in just 25 minutes.

THE POMODORO TECHNIQUE is a Step-by-Step Guide that Boosts Focus and Productivity. It is a simple yet powerful time management method developed by Italian entrepreneur FRANCESCO CIRILLO in the late 1980s. It’s named after the tomato-shaped kitchen timer (pomodoro means “tomato” in Italian) he used as a university student.

‎The core idea is to Break your work into focused intervals (called Pomodoros) separated by short breaks. This helps deal with procrastination, reduces mental fatigue, and leverages the brain’s natural attention span for maximum productivity.

Materials You Need:
A timer (phone app, kitchen timer, or website like tomato-timer.com or Focus Booster).

A task list or notebook.

A quiet workspace (optional but helpful).

I dropped a step-by-step guide in the comments section. Feel free to ask any questions on any step you seem not to understand.
