The University of the Free State proudly celebrates alumnus Dr Moses Mutua, an Assistant Professor in the School of Nursing and Midwifery at Aga Khan University in Kenya, for his contribution to nursing education, research and healthcare innovation.
A UFS PhD graduate, Dr Mutuaโs research focused on establishing quality standards for the use of technology in healthcare education. His work continues to support the integration of digital technologies into nursing and medical education while preparing healthcare professionals for an increasingly technology-driven environment.
โMy passion has always been to improve patient outcomes by strengthening health systems through innovative education,โ says Dr Mutua.
Through innovative teaching, curriculum development, evidence-based practice and multidisciplinary research, he bridges the gap between theory and clinical practice. His international contributions include peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations and collaboration with professional organisations such as Afrehealth, RSTMH and ECSACONM.
Reflecting on his UFS journey, Dr Mutua credits the university with instilling values of โservice, excellence, and lifelong learningโ that continue to guide his career.
