Bio:
Prof Peter Flynn is a lecturer in Translation Studies and English at KU Leuven Campus Antwerp and CETRA KU Leuven. He obtained his PhD in Language and Literature from Ghent University in 2006, where he lectured in the English Department between 1999 and 2006. His doctoral thesis, A Linguistic Ethnography of Literary Translation: Irish Poems and Dutch-Speaking Translators, examined literary translation from a linguistic-ethnographic perspective. From 1994 to 1999, Flynn taught English and coordinated the language department at the College of Europe in Bruges, where he also served as technical editor of Collegium. During this period, he worked as a professional translator and has continued translating regularly. In 2013, he co-published an anthology of Irish poetry in Dutch translation with Flemish poet Joris Iven. He has organised conferences and seminars with Luc van Doorslaer and published extensively on Translation Studies. His research interests include translation practices, linguistic ethnography, Irish literature, and sociolinguistics.
