Experimental. Collaborative. Unforgettable.โœจ๐Ÿ“ธ๐ŸŒŒ

Our students spent three nights beneath the legendary dark skies of the Cederberg, guided by Syd Strydom, an artist and educator with over twenty years of experience in digital and analogue photography.

Working hands-on with professional camera equipment, students learnt advanced astrophotography techniques from Sony Ambassador Mike Eloff and created striking portfolio work in one of South Africaโ€™s most spectacular landscapes.

A huge thank you to Sony for making this extraordinary learning experience possible.

Creativity, teamwork and a little Wonka-inspired magic!๐Ÿช„๐Ÿซ

CTCA was honoured to judge the Visual Merchandising and Product Design categories at the WCED Provincial Skills Competition 2026.

Grade 10 and 11 learners from schools across the Western Cape teamed up in pairs to turn recycled materials into playful Charlie and the Chocolate Factory-inspired creationsโ€”from 3D window displays to wearable designs made from sweet wrappers and packaging.

Congratulations to all the participants and winning teams! ๐Ÿ† The winners are invited to join us at our next CTCA printmaking workshop. We look forward to seeing you soon! โœจ

A big thank you to our judges, Studio Kuns Koppie and Clayton Sutherland , for sharing their time and expertise!โœจ

A big thank you to Ogilvyโ€™s Learning & Development Coordinators for introducing our students to career opportunities at Ogilvy and sharing insights into the 2027 Graduate Programme recruitment process.

We were especially delighted to welcome back CTCA alum Yingy (Yingcwaliso Mabandla), now an Art Director at Ogilvy, alongside Vuyani and Shahid from the Ogilvy Graduate Programme.

Thank you for giving our students a glimpse into how Ogilvy builds brands, transforms them into experiences and communicates the stories that bring them to life.๐ŸŽ‰โœจ

Hands-on in the workshop with our second-year Product Development Lab students!๐Ÿ’กโœจ

Using the iconic Anglepoise lamp as inspiration, students are exploring woodworking, mechanical articulation and 3D design to create their own adjustable desk lamps. The wooden base and pivoting joints provide the structure, while the lampshade is designed in Rhino and fabricated through 3D printing to support and enhance the wooden form.

Watch this space as these designs take shape!

CTCA Communication Design students shine in this yearโ€™s MCC Label competition!โœจ๐Ÿ†๐Ÿ‘

The competition offered our students the opportunity to explore the specialised field of premium wine packaging. Their designs needed to consider not only visual appeal, but also how storytelling, brand narrative, typography, material choices, tactile qualities and print production techniques work together to create a memorable presence on the shelf.

Each student developed an original wine brand and brought its story to life through a unified series of labels, producing concepts with the detail and sophistication of market-ready packaging.

We are thrilled to celebrate the students whose work was selected for this yearโ€™s competition:

Finalists
Neve Irish โ€” Mended Fence
Jaime Farara โ€” Pienk Paleis
Ethan Breetzke โ€” First Draft

Silver Award
Carla Snyman โ€” Bennie and Bessie

Lecturer: Clayton Sutherland
