Industry collaboration is central to career readiness at the CTCA.✨💼
Our third-year Motion Design students recently visited to present pitches for the narrative animation projects they are currently developing.
This meaningful collaboration invites students to work with real stories compiled from Mamelani alumni, who were previously part of the organisation’s mentorship and support programmes. Mamelani Projects supports young people as they transition into independent life after leaving Child and Youth Care Centres at 18.
Each student was allocated a section of one of eight narratives and tasked with translating it into an animated personal story. During the visit, students presented their storyboards, style frames and animatics to Mamelani staff and alumni, who responded positively to the quality of the work and the sensitivity with which the stories were approached.
Projects like this help students build career-ready skills in pitching, client engagement, research, visual storytelling and responsible creative practice — while showing how motion design can honour lived experience with care and dignity.
