Two Oceans Graduate Institute Two Oceans Graduate Institute (TOGI) was established in 2017 by Mrs. Recognition of TOGI’s commitment to quality came swiftly.

Study to become a Qualified Recognized Teacher

TOGI offers a fully online and affordable PGCE Senior and FET Phase Teaching, BEd Intermediate Phase Teaching, BEd in Foundation Phase Teaching, and BEd Senior and FET Phase Teaching. Ashra Norton and Dr. Ali Adam, guided by a shared vision to create a transformative educational institution. Founded under the provisions of the Higher Education Act 10

1 of 1997, TOGI embodies the spirit of innovation and diversity that this legislation encourages, standing proudly as a private higher education provider within South Africa’s dynamic educational landscape. From the outset, TOGI has been dedicated to one critical mission: advancing teacher education. By launching its flagship programme, the Bachelor of Education (BEd) in Intermediate Phase Teaching in 2017, TOGI addressed significant challenges in literacy and numeracy education in primary schools. This commitment laid a solid foundation for enhancing educational standards across South Africa, driving excellence in both secondary and tertiary sectors. In February 2017, the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) formally acknowledged TOGI as a private higher education provider. This milestone followed the successful accreditation of the BEd (Intermediate Phase Teaching) programme by the Council on Higher Education (CHE) and its registration with the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA). TOGI’s journey of growth and innovation continued in 2020 with the accreditation of the Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) for Senior Phase and Further Education and Training Teaching. The first cohort of PGCE students embarked on their studies in January 2021, successfully graduating in December of the same year. In 2022, TOGI further expanded its academic offerings by achieving accreditation for the Bachelor of Education (BEd) in Foundation Phase Teaching. This significant achievement was followed by the enrolment of the first cohort of Foundation Phase students in January 2023, underscoring TOGI’s ongoing commitment to shaping the future of South African education. Today, TOGI stands as a beacon of excellence in teacher education, inspiring a new generation of educators to lead with confidence, compassion, and a commitment to lifelong learning. Registration & Accreditation:

Two Oceans Graduate Institute is provisional registration with the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) under the Higher Education Act, 1997, valid until December 31, 2026 (Registration No. 2017/HE08/001). As part of the standard process for all new private higher education institutions, TOGI is undergoing a candidacy phase of provisional registration. A quality audit by the Council on Higher Education (CHE) is scheduled for late 2025, paving the way for TOGI’s transition to full registration.

Choosing where to study is more than selecting a qualification, it is choosing an institution you can trust with your future.

In today’s higher education landscape, it is important for prospective students to understand the difference between a registered, accredited institution and unverified providers operating outside the required regulatory framework.

When considering where to study, always ensure that the institution and its qualifications are officially recognised.

At Two Oceans Graduate Institute (TOGI), our qualifications form part of a regulated higher education environment in South Africa.
This means:
• The institution is registered with the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET).
• Qualifications are accredited by the Council on Higher Education (CHE).
• Qualifications are registered on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) through South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA).

Why does this matter?

Accreditation and registration provide students with confidence that:
• Their qualification is recognised.
• Academic standards are monitored and quality assured.
• Their studies align with national higher education requirements.
• Their qualification supports professional and career progression.

Choosing a recognised institution is not only about earning a qualification, it is about protecting your investment, your career opportunities, and your future.

At TOGI, we remain committed to providing:
• Accredited qualifications.
• Flexible online learning.
• Dedicated student support.
• A pathway into meaningful impact in education.

Your future deserves a trusted foundation.

Choosing where to study is one of the most important decisions you will ever make. It is not simply about obtaining a qualification, it is about investing in your future, your purpose, and the lives you will one day influence.

In a landscape filled with options, how do you determine which institution is right for you?

Here are five key considerations when choosing where to study teaching:

Ensure the institution is registered and accredited with the relevant authorities. This guarantees that your qualification is legitimate, recognised, and valued.

𝟮. 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 & 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁 𝗟𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗿𝘀
A strong academic foundation is essential. Look for programmes led by experienced lecturers who understand both theory and classroom practice.

Modern students require flexibility. A well-structured online model allows you to balance your studies with your personal and professional responsibilities—without compromising quality.

You should never feel like just a number. From application to graduation, consistent academic and administrative support is key to your success.

Choosing to become a teacher is more than selecting a career. It is a commitment to shaping the direction of young people at one of the most defining stages of their lives.

The Senior Phase and Further Education and Training (FET) years, typically covering Grades 7 to 12, are where learners begin to engage more deeply with subjects, make career-related decisions, and prepare for further study or the world of work. Teaching at this level requires not only subject expertise, but the ability to guide, mentor, and inspire.

At Two Oceans Graduate Institute (TOGI), the Bachelor of Education in Senior Phase and FET Teaching is designed to prepare future educators for exactly this responsibility.

What does the qualification focus on?
The programme equips students with:
• Strong subject specialisation in chosen teaching fields
• A solid foundation in teaching methodology and pedagogy
• Practical classroom experience through structured teaching practice
• The ability to support diverse learners in meaningful and inclusive ways

But understanding the qualification is only part of the journey.
A key question many prospective students ask is: “Will I be supported while studying online?”

Support is not an add-on, it is built into the experience.

TOGI’s approach to distance learning is centred on structured, accessible, and human support. Students are guided through their studies by a dedicated network that includes:

• Lecturers, providing academic guidance, feedback, and live engagement sessions.
• Student Advisors, supporting you with administrative processes and keeping you on track.
• Teaching Practice Coordinators, assisting with school placements and practical requirements
• Technical Support, ensuring you can access and navigate the online learning environment with ease

In addition, the learning experience itself is designed to balance flexibility with structure, combining scheduled live sessions with self-paced learning activities, allowing you to manage your studies alongside work and personal commitments.

Who is this qualification for?
This programme is ideal for individuals who:
• Are passionate about teaching specific subjects at high school level
• Want to make a meaningful impact during a critical phase of learner development
• Require a flexible, fully online study option without compromising on support

A journey that requires commitment, but not one you take alone.

Studying towards a teaching qualification is a significant step. It requires discipline, dedication, and purpose. At TOGI, the focus is not only on academic success, but on ensuring that every student feels supported throughout their journey.

If you are considering a future in education, understanding both the qualification and the support behind it is essential.
