Our Primary School learners embraced the magic of reading for World Literacy Day, coming dressed as some of their favourite book characters! 📖🦸🏽‍♀️🧙🏽‍♂️👑

From beloved heroes to magical characters, our school was brought to life through the wonderful stories that inspire our young readers. 💫

❄️💙 Let it go, let it go… our Group 4s were ready for their show! ✨

Our little stars brought the magic of Frozen to life with their adorable performance of “Let It Go” complete with big voices, brave hearts and plenty of sparkle! 🎶👑

We couldn’t be prouder of these little performers for stepping onto the stage, embracing the moment and sharing their beautiful talents with us. 🌟

A little bit of courage, a whole lot of confidence, and memories they’ll treasure forever. 💙❄️

📚✨ Celebrating World Literacy Day! ✨📚

Today, our Grade 1–3 learners had the wonderful opportunity to meet author Shareez Bagaria and be transported into the inspiring world of Luna’s Journey. 📖💫

A seasoned adventurer and former athlete, Mrs Bagaria knows first-hand what it means to face your fears, believe in yourself and push beyond what you think is possible. Her own incredible journey has seen her conquer both Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Kenya. 🏔️

In Luna’s Journey, we meet Luna on the eve of a new school year as she navigates fears, anxieties and the challenges that come with new experiences. Guided by her mother’s wise words: “Be good, be kind, but always speak your mind” Luna learns to stand up to meanness, overcome challenges and discover her own grit and courage. 💛

What a beautiful reminder for our young readers that every challenge is an opportunity to grow, and every story has the power to inspire us to be brave.

✨ Taking centre stage! 💃🎭

Shonees Abrams (Grade 10) and Owami Myeni (Grade 11) took to the stage last week as proud members of the cast of Blockbuster Boys, a fantastic collaboration between Durban High School and Glenwood High School.

The girls were put through their paces with an exciting variety of dance styles, from Disco and Amapiano to Modern Jazz and Hip Hop, showcasing their versatility, talent and passion for performance.

We commend Shonees and Owami for their wonderful dedication and commitment. It was an absolute joy to witness you both in your happy place, doing what you love! 💙

🎤 Our intrepid debating duo! 🎤

Grade 11 learners Vurisi Maluleke and Esesa Mfeka bravely took on the UKZN Women’s Month Debating Tournament last weekend, putting their debating skills and teamwork to the test.

Despite having to iron man their clashes, they walked away with several certificates recognising their excellent individual speaker presentations, as well as their phenomenal teamwork. 🏆👏

We are exceedingly proud of Vurisi and Esesa for representing our school with such confidence, determination and excellence. Well done! 🌟

What a magical morning! 💫 Our little stars from Group 1 to Grade R took us on a journey through the wonderful world of Disney, filling the stage with beautiful songs, joyful dancing and plenty of Disney magic. 🏰🎶

From tiny performers to confident little stars, every learner shone brightly and made the morning one to remember. ❤️

Not every milestone is marked by a certificate. Sometimes, it’s a child sounding out a word for the first time. Sometimes, it’s finishing a book from cover to cover. Sometimes, it’s finding the confidence to read aloud.

These everyday moments may seem small, but they can change lives.

On International Literacy Day, we celebrate the power of reading and the countless stories that begin when someone is given the opportunity to learn.
