Term 1 Prize Giving
“Excellence should be celebrated at all times.”

Today our school proudly hosted the Term 1 Awards Ceremony, celebrating top achievers from Grade 8–12. It was a proud moment as we recognised learners who continue to work hard and strive for excellence.

Overall Top Achievers per Grade:

Weekly School Highlights📺
As we wrap up the week, here are some of the exciting highlights from our school:
World Book Day - 05 March
2026
Our school proudly hosted the 1st
Annual World Book Day
celebration. Learners showcased their talents through reading, poetry recitation, character parades, and book reviews.
On Monday, the winners were awarded their certificates. This event aimed to promote a culture of reading and learning among our learners.
Netball Achievements:
Two of our talented netball players represented the school at the Eastern Cape Border trials held at v Stirling High School:
• Bonolo Sithole (14)
• Alutha (15)
We wish them all the best as we await the results. We are incredibly proud of them!
Debate Team:
Our Senior and Junior Debate
Teams competed against other schools. Although they did not win this time, they showed great courage and determination. We are confident they will come back stronger next term!
Controlled Tests:
Controlled tests started on 05
March. We encourage parents to continue supporting and motivating learners during this important time.

🏆 𝗕𝗖𝗠 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘁 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 | 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 🏆
We are incredibly proud to be recognised as one of the Top High School in the Buffalo City Metro and the Eastern Cape Province after our 2025 Matric Class achieved an outstanding 96.1% pass rate!

In addition, Amitek High School received Subject Awards in the following subjects:
🛫Tourism
🌍 History
📚Mathematics
These awards are based on the number of learners taking each subject and the number of achievements above 70% - a true reflection of both excellence and consistency across the board.

Congratulations to our Principal Mr Ncamazana for his Leadership and our Deputy Principal Ms Mpendulo who also achieved a remarkable 100% in her Subject Tourism; we can not forget our dedicated staff and hardworking learners for flying the Amitek Red & Blue flag high. We are so proud of this remarkable achievement.

Ons skool , AMITEK HOËRSKOOL het vandag 'n tie-ceremonie gehou vir die graad 12 leerders , hulle het hul skooldiepe gekry, wat wys hulle is nou senior studente die diepe is 'n simbool van hul hard werk en hul belofte om die skool se waardes hoog te hou en wys ook that hulle verantwoordelikheid neem .

die seremonie was by Downtown Christian Church. *daar was toesprake van 'n gas gehad , die skoolhoof Mnr Ncamazana , die adjunk skoolhoof Mev Mpendulo die sprekers het gesê " die graad twaalfs moet nou verantwoordelik wees vir hul eie toekoms , hulle moet wys hulle is leiers en die skool se naam hoog hou "* , die tie ceremonie is 'n groot dag vir die graad 12 leerders want dit wys hulle is nou leiers in die skool , almal was baie emosioneel, veral toe die ouers met hulle praat , die graad 12 leerders het gehuil, maar dit was mooi om te sien die diepe is vir hulle gegee, en dit wys hulle is nou rolmodelle vir die ander kinders in die skool , ons wens ons graad 12 leerders die beste op hulle nuwe loopbaan .

Today, our Grade 12 learners were invited by the Department of Education to attend a school orientation programme held at East London Science College.

Our school principal, Mr Ncamazana, officially welcomed the guests and delivered an inspiring address to the learners. He shared meaningful words of wisdom, encouraging them to remain focused, disciplined, and committed throughout this crucial academic year. He concluded his speech with a powerful quote that left a lasting impression.

The Department of Education emphasised the importance of dedication and hard work in Grade 12, clearly outlining what is required for learners to succeed and gain admission to university. Learners were reminded of the responsibility they carry and the importance of striving for excellence.

Ms Lottering also motivated the learners, urging them to work diligently, reach for the stars, and become responsible, productive citizens.

The event concluded on high note, with the Grade 12 learners taking a pledge to abide by the school rules and commit themselves wholeheartedly to their studies.
