Our Civil Engineering Technology students were hosted at the Polihali Dam site, the massive heart of LHWP Phase II.

In this video, Craig (Construction Project Manager) shares his perspective on the immense complexity and unique engineering challenges of constructing this dam in such a remote, high-altitude environment.

Our Civil Engineering Technology students had the incredible opportunity to visit the Senqu Bridge in Mokhotlong, a landmark achievement of the Lesotho Highlands Water Project (LHWP) Phase II. This site stands as a testament to the enduring partnership between the Republic of South Africa and the Kingdom of Lesotho, having been officially inaugurated by His Excellency President Cyril Ramaphosa, His Majesty King Letsie III and the Rt Honourable Prime Minister Samuel Matekane on 22 April 2026.

The students explored the bridge's structural form within a steep mountain gorge and studied the complex foundation conditions in river-carved rock. These real-world observations of bridge engineering in difficult topography are vital for bridging the gap between classroom theory and internationally significant practice.
