The Faculty of Science comprises 11 Departments, namely: Academy of Computer Science and Software Engineering; Biochemistry; Biotechnology and Food Technology; Botany & Plant Biotechnology; Chemical Sciences; Geography, Environmental Management & Energy Studies; Geology
Mathematics and Applied Mathematics;

Physics; Statistics; and Zoology. Non-academic units housed in the Faculty include SPECTRUM (an Analytical Research Facility), the Faculty's Workshop and the Glass Blowing Unit.

Recently, a public lecture on “The Digital Lab: Computational Chemistry and Molecular Modelling”, was recently presented by Prof. Krishna K. Govender from our Department of Chemical Sciences.

The session highlighted how computational tools, molecular modelling and digital approaches are transforming modern chemical research, teaching and innovation.

Today, our students visited the University of Eswatini (UNESWA), where they engaged in collaborative group sessions and presentations as part of the Water Innovation Challenge.

As part of the Africa By Bus programme, our students are exploring science-informed, sustainable solutions to water and sanitation challenges in Southern Africa.

Cultural Immersion Day in eSwatini. 🇸🇿

This morning we visited Ngwenya Mine for a guided tour learning about the history of the mine known to be one of the oldest mining sites in the world. ⛏️🤯

We ended off the morning at the Ngwenya Glass Factory learning about glass manufacturing. 🔎
