[CSET INTERNATIONALISATION EFFORTS] Today Institute for Catalysis & Energy Solutions (ICES) hosted a seminar titled “Engineering Metal Interfaces for Sustainable Energy and Electronics - From Aqueous Zinc Batteries to Copper Bonding”. This seminar was presented by Prof Tetsu Yonezawa, a Professor in the Division of Materials Science and Engineering at Hokkaido University, Japan. His research focuses on advanced nanomaterials, nanoparticle synthesis, catalysis-related materials, hybrid functional materials, and low-temperature materials processing for energy and electronic applications. His visit to our Science Campus forms part of Unisa - The University of South Africa internationalisation efforts to expand global engagement and collaboration.

[CSET NEWS] Help us congratulate the following academics who have been announced as finalists for the prestigious 2025/2026 NSTF-South32 Awards. Prof Phumlani Fortune Msomi was announced as a finalist for the TW Kambule-NSTF Award: Emerging Researcher, and Prof Lukas Willem Snyman for the Innovation Award: Corporate Organization. They will be representing Unisa - The University of South Africa CSET at South Africa's most sought-after national awards for science, engineering, technology, and innovation, widely known as the “Science Oscars of South Africa.”

Unisa's College of Science, Engineering and Technology successfully hosted the Famelab regional heat competition for 2026 as part of the activities. The event featured emerging researchers from college who presented their scientific findings in a clear and captivating way to a broad audience. Congratulations are in order for the winners: Londeka Dube, who achieved first place, Keno Mosoane, who secured second place, and Tabitha Alango, who took third place. Special thanks to the judges, Prof James Chibueze, Fumani Jwara, and Prof Patience Mthunzi-Kufa, for offering valuable feedback and contributing to the development of the participants' science communication skills.
