Background of Northern Cape Urban TVET College

There were 3 technical colleges in Kimberley, namely:
โ€ขMoremogolo Technical College / Taemaneng Technical Centre
โ€ขR C Elliott Technical College
โ€ขNorthern Cape Technical College

Since 1994, legislative frameworks and policies were put into place to deal with many of the challenges facing our society, including the transformation of the education sys

tem. This led to the amalgamation of the three technical colleges as indicated by the Northern Cape Department of Education. The College is now known as the Northern Cape Urban TVET College. The northern Cape Urban TVET College is 1 of the 50 TVET Colleges in the country and 1 of yhe only 2 in the Northern Cape province, mainly serving the Frances Baard and John Taole Gaetsewe districts. The college comprises of three campuses namely, Phatsimang Moremogolo and City campus. all which are within 1,5km to 10km from thr NCUTVET College Central Office in Kimberley CBD. Through its Skills and Innovation Centre, the college is continuously building local partnerships with various institutions. Therefore it offers a variety of occupational programmes like learnerships and accredited skills programmes. The programme qualification mix is a response to industry demands that will seek to address the economic needs of the area and the country at large. NCU TVET College Hosts EON-XR Training for Inland TVET Colleges

NCU TVET College proudly hosted the EON-XR Training for Inland TVET Colleges, an initiative made possible through the support of merSETA.

The training provided participants with an opportunity to explore Extended Reality (XR) technology and its potential to transform teaching and learning through immersive, interactive and technology-driven experiences.

This initiative marks another important step towards strengthening digital innovation, collaboration and future-ready skills within the TVET sector.

Today marked the beginning of the NCU TVET College Strategic Planning Session, bringing together College leadership, management and key stakeholders to reflect, engage and plan for the future of our institution.

Day 1 focused on meaningful discussions around our priorities, performance and the strategic direction needed to strengthen the College and continue delivering quality education and opportunities to our students and communities.

After winning 1st place in the regional rounds of the Allan Gray Entrepreneurship Competition in Upington under the category โ€œI Have an Artisan Business,โ€ Phemelo advanced to the national rounds where she proudly achieved 2nd place and received recognition as an artisan! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ๐ŸŽ‰
