WorldSkills South Africa Amajuba Region Closes Successful 2025/2026 Cycle
The WorldSkills South Africa (WSZA) Amajuba Region recently hosted its Closing Function for the 2025/2026 competition cycle at Blackrock, bringing together stakeholders to celebrate another successful year of skills development and excellence.
The event was attended by Majuba TVET College management and officials, representatives from Durnacol Skills Innovation Hub, Qualitas Academy, and Community Education and Training (CET) colleges from Osizweni and Madadeni.
Delivering the keynote address, Mrs. Zandile Nkabinde, Deputy Principal: Academic Services at Majuba TVET College, commended the WSZA Amajuba Region Committee for its dedication to promoting vocational skills development. She praised the committee, particularly its chairperson, Mr. Helgard Boshoff, for their sterling work, commitment, and leadership throughout the cycle.
A highlight of the programme was an address by Gcina Sokhulu, a Majuba TVET College student who achieved second place in the Restaurant Service category. Sharing her experience, Gcina spoke about the valuable lessons she gained through the competition, including professionalism, confidence, discipline, and teamwork. She encouraged fellow students to participate in skills competitions as a means of personal and professional growth.
Looking ahead, Mr. Helgard Boshoff announced that planning for the 2027/2028 WSZA cycle has already commenced. He also introduced the newly selected experts who will mentor and prepare competitors for the upcoming cycle, expressing confidence in their ability to contribute to the continued success of the programme.
The event celebrated the achievements of competitors and recognised the contributions of partners, experts, and institutions that continue to support skills development in the region. As the 2025/2026 cycle comes to an end, stakeholders remain committed to building a skilled workforce and creating opportunities for young people to excel in their chosen fields.
