Applications for The 2026 Global Excellence and Stature (GES) 4.0 for Societal Impact (SI) funding for Master’s and Doctoral studies is now open. 📣

The deadline for submission is 30 November 2025❗

All submitted applications will be screened, and eligible candidates will be shortlisted. Faculties will receive access to the shortlisted applications, along with detailed instructions for the ranking process.

The South African Medical Research Council’s Division of Research Capacity Development (RCD) is pleased to share the Request for Applications (RFA) Calendar for the 2025/2026 funding cycle.

The RCD Division continues to support the growth of health research capacity in South Africa through strategic scholarship and grant programmes for postgraduate students, postdoctoral fellows, early-career, and mid-career researchers. These programmes directly contribute to the SAMRC’s strategic goal of “building sustainable health research human capacity in South Africa.”

The FirstRand Team has invited you to the Presentation of their International Postgraduate Scholarships

Please see the criteria below:

1. SA citizenship required.
2. Excellence is a key criteria in the selection of candidates across all scholarships.
3. Successful candidates will have excelled academically in their chosen field.
4. Demonstrated leadership qualities.
5. Strength of character.
6. Community-orientated initiatives.
7. Potential to be a destiny changer in his or her chosen field.
8. Candidates who are currently, or have been studying overseas for degree purposes, will not be considered for this scholarship.
9. Successful candidates have to return to South Africa for at least five years after completing their studies.
10. Candidates need to have met NQF criteria in order to be eligible for a Masters or PhD.
