Revolutionary Greetings,

PASMA has noted with serious concern that a number of students affected by NSFAS exceptions are now facing possible eviction from their private accommodations due to unpaid rent caused by NSFAS exceptions.

We understand the difficult situation students are currently experiencing, especially those whose funding is still under investigation or awaiting NSFAS resolution. No student should be left vulnerable while these administrative processes are still being addressed.

We therefore request all students residing in private accommodations who have received NSFAS exceptions and are currently being threatened with eviction by landlords to urgently fill in their details on the link below so that we may compile affected cases and escalate the matter accordingly.

Please ensure that your information is submitted accurately by Sunday the 24th of May 2026.

PASMA remains committed to defending the rights and dignity of students and will continue engaging relevant stakeholders to seek urgent intervention and relief for affected students.

PASMA Statement on NSFAS Exceptions
20 May 2026

Revolutionary Greetings CPUT Students,

As PASMA, we are aware of the ongoing challenges affecting students who have been defunded or placed under NSFAS exceptions for the 2026 academic year. We understand the frustration, uncertainty, and emotional distress this situation has caused among affected students.

Following engagements and communication received regarding the exceptions, it has been confirmed that there are currently 351 students affected by NSFAS exceptions across different categories. These exceptions have already been escalated to NSFAS for intervention and resolution.

The breakdown is as follows:
6 students โ€” Re-applied Before Migration which FAO is awaiting NSFAS resolution.
1 student โ€” UNI Highest Level of Qualification Achieved which FAO is awaiting NSFAS resolution.
90 students โ€” N+ Investigation which FAO is awaiting NSFAS clarification and final outcome.
175 students โ€” Gap Investigation which FAO is awaiting guidance from the NSFAS Acting COO to ensure proper implementation across institutions.
79 students โ€” Duplicate Registration which students are required to confirm the institution at which they are currently enrolled before NSFAS can finalise the process.

As PASMA, we would also like to inform students that these matters were discussed during the NSFAS regional workshop with FAO held on Tuesday, 12 May 2026, where institutions raised concerns and requested urgent intervention regarding these exceptions.

At this stage, FAO is still awaiting final guidance and resolution from NSFAS on the majority of these matters. We therefore urge affected students to remain patient while engagements continue.

PASMA remains committed to fighting for students and ensuring that no academically deserving student is unfairly prejudiced due to administrative delays or unresolved NSFAS processes. We will continue to provide updates and push for urgent intervention until all affected students are funded again.

Yours in Leadership,
PASMA CPUT

19 May 2026
Revolutionary Greetings NSFAS BENEFICIARIES,

PASMA would like to inform all students regarding the NSFAS 2025 outstanding allowances process.

All students who NSFAS has made a full payment for, and who are currently academically registered for 2026 at CPUT, will receive their allowances either tonight or tomorrow at the latest via Fundi.

Students who are not registered under CPUT for the 2026 academic year are urged to check their emails and ensure that they submit their EFT forms before Thursday. These payments are expected to reflect by next week Friday.

Thereafter, the Financial Aid Office (FAO) will focus on processing the 2024 outstanding allowances for students whose payments were recently received from NSFAS.

Please note:
NSFAS has not yet made outstanding payments for all students, and in some cases payments were not made in full. The Financial Aid Office can only process allowances once payment has been received from NSFAS.

Furthermore, as per the NSFAS circular released last year, students whose registration templates were submitted late last year are only eligible for the book allowance and two monthsโ€™ living allowance.

We encourage students to remain patient during this process as PASMA continues to engage relevant stakeholders regarding all outstanding matters.
