Department of Political Sciences UP The Department of Political Sciences, in the Faculty of Humanities, was introduced at the University of Pretoria in 1912.

Home to the Political Science and International Relations disciplines, and a department committed to the molding of young people into critical and empowered citizens in a decolonising world. It comprises of experienced full- and part-time staff who regularly engage and teach students at the University of Pretoria. The Department has close ties with the Centre for Mediation in Africa (CMA), the Cen

tre for the Study of Governance Innovation (GovInn) and the Institute for Strategic and Political Affairs (ISPA), with staff members actively involved in the research activities of these institutions. It also manages the Strategic Review for Southern Africa, an internationally accredited and peer-reviewed periodical. The Department was awarded a Jean Monnet Chair in Regional Integration and Governance Studies in 2012, and is consistently ranked as one of the top publishing departments in the Faculty of Humanities.
