The MAISH 2026 Midday Pitch has wrapped up, and the journey continues!

Following their presentations, the hacker groups received valuable feedback from the adjudicators, guiding them on how to strengthen and refine their solutions as they move towards the final stage.

With fresh insights in hand, the teams are back to the Hack-away, making improvements, sharpening their ideas and working towards their final presentations.

The energy was unmatched as talented young athletes from various schools came together to compete in various track and field events; from thrilling races and high jump to javelin, long jump and more.

After working through the night, our hacker groups are refining their solutions, finalising their presentations and preparing to take the stage once again.

Hey ICT Fam!

The MAISH 2026 Hackathon has reached an exciting stage as teams took the spotlight for the first round of presentations!

With 10 hacker groups working across seven unique themes, participants are showcasing their innovative ideas and solutions in areas including modernising the education system, mining, risk management, digital signatures, e-tendering, e-complaint systems and agriculture.

From brainstorming and collaboration to turning ideas into practical solutions, the teams are putting their creativity, technical skills and problem-solving abilities to the test.

The ideas are coming to life, and the MAISH Hackathon is heating up!

Hey ICT Fam!

MAISH is officially moving into the action phase!

Participants have been placed into Hacker Groups, guided by Mr Thiba from Computer Science at TUT, eMalahleni campus.

The teams then engaged with the Problem Statement Presentation, led by Dr Mseteka, Lecturer in the School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences at UMP.

And now… HACK-AWAY!

The teams are ready to collaborate, build, innovate and turn their ideas into solutions. The clock is ticking, and the challenge is on!

Hey ICT Fam!

The Hackathon continues.

Participants received a message of support from Mr Mabitsela, SITA Provincial Manager.The programme then featured an address by partners from Nedbank, by Richard Kibuuka, Head: Change and Transformation, Nedbank Limited, sharing words of support and industry insights.

The formal programme concluded with closing remarks by Dr Nomvete from UMP and the MAISH Compliance Office.

And now, the real challenge begins! Participants are moving into hacker group allocations, problem statement presentations, presentation packaging, house rules review, group reviews, integration activities and the Hack-away.

The teams are ready. The ideas are flowing. Let the Hack-away begin!

Culture meets innovation at MAISH 2026!

The atmosphere came alive as a vibrant cultural dance performance took centre stage, bringing rhythm, energy and tradition into today’s AI-powered event.

It was a beautiful reminder that while we look towards the future through technology and Artificial Intelligence, our culture remains an important part of who we are.

From traditional moves to an enthusiastic audience, the performance added colour and energy to the MAISH 2026 experience.
