The Garagiste Winemaking Course of the Department of Viticulture and Oenology, Stellenbosch University, has established itself over the past seven years as the premium winemaking short course for people interested in producing quality small-scale wines in the comfort of their homes. Attendees will have the opportunity to observe the use of small-scale winemaking equipment, bottle their own wine, a

s well as taste a large number of wines that were produced on small scale. The course focuses on all aspects of garagiste winemaking from different cultivars, ripeness parameters, fermentation, ageing, bottling and equipment used.

Want to make your own wine? There are still a few places open for the Garagiste winemaking short course at Stellenbosch University 17-19 October 2025! The course covers the whole winemaking process from a technical and practical viewpoint, tasting several unique wines and practical demos of equipment used in small scale winemaking. You will also receive a comprehensive set of notes and a certificate from Stellenbosch University when completing the course. The closing dates for registration is 6 October 2025.
