⚽️Star Soccer Tournament Brings Community Schools Together ⚽️

On Saturday, 30 May 2026, Star College Field was alive with energy as it hosted the annual Star Soccer Tournament. Schools from around the community came together for a day of competitive football, teamwork, and community spirit.

Participating Schools
The tournament featured teams from:
- Star College
- Grasshopper
- New Germany Primary
- Lyndhurst Primary
- Wyebank Primary
- Pitlochry Primary
- S. M. Jhavary Primary
- Orient Primary

Learners competed across three divisions: U10, U12, and U13. The field was filled with excitement from the first whistle to the final match, with every team displaying strong team spirit and sportsmanship throughout the day.

Results and Outstanding Players
- U10 Division: Grasshopper emerged as champions. Star College’s Mahir Kizilkaya was named Outstanding Player for his performance and skill on the day.
- U12 Division: Lyndhurst Primary took the title. The Outstanding Player award also went to a standout player from Orient Primary.
- U13 Division: New Germany Primary claimed the championship after a series of tough, closely contested matches. The Outstanding Player award in this division was awarded to one of their own players.

A Day of Community and Celebration
Beyond the matches, the tournament had a festive atmosphere. Stalls with refreshments were available throughout the day, adding to the community feel and giving families and supporters a chance to enjoy the event together.

Hosting an event of this scale requires extensive planning and dedication. The success of the day is credited to Mr Nair, Head Coach of Star College, for his leadership and organisation. Sincere thanks also go to all the schools, coaches, and players who made the day successful through their participation and sportsmanship. Special thanks goes to Staff of Pre Primary and Primary teachers for their duty that they performed with diligence.

A special thank you to the referees, whose coordination was organised by Rahul, and to Mr Kayya, Principal of Star College, for hosting and supporting such an important event for our boys.

Well done to all teams. The true win was the display of teamwork, respect, and community spirit on the field.

Internal Spelling Bee Celebrates Language and Skill on 22 May 2026

On Friday, 22 May 2026, our school came alive with the sound of letters, accents, and focused concentration as we held our annual Internal Spelling Bee.

This year’s event featured four rounds designed to reflect the linguistic diversity of our team. Participants tackled words ranging from everyday terms to complex technical vocabulary, spelling through rounds in English, Afrikaans, IsiZulu, and Turkish. The challenge wasn’t just about memory—it was about precision under pressure, quick thinking, and an appreciation for how language shapes the way we work together.

The atmosphere was energetic from the first word. Laughter, applause, and the occasional dramatic pause filled the room as spellers stepped up to the microphone. Everyone brought preparation and good sportsmanship, and the audience made sure every effort got a round of support.

Events like this do more than test spelling. They remind us that clear communication is at the heart of what we do, and celebrating it across multiple languages makes our workplace stronger and more connected.

Congratulations to all participants for making the day memorable.

Star Robotics Competition Brings Together Schools from South Africa and Mozambique!!

The Star Robotics Competition lit up on Saturday 23 May 2026 bringing together young engineers from across the region for a day of design, coding, and problem-solving.

This year’s event featured teams from *Nizamiye Midrand*, *Mayfair*, and *Birlik International from Mozambique*, marking one of the most diverse lineups yet. The competition ran across Junior and Elementary levels, with students tackling timed challenges that tested both technical skill and teamwork.

The atmosphere was high-energy from the first round. Each team brought custom-built robots and strategies developed over months of preparation, and the difference showed in the tight finishes and quick on-the-spot adjustments.

A highlight for the crowd was 9-year-old Suleiman, the youngest competitor present. His performance stole the show and drew applause from students, teachers, and parents alike.

Thanks goes to co-ordinater Robotics Head, Mrs Merve Kayya, from Star College for making the event a huge success, pointing to the level of collaboration between schools and the enthusiasm from first-time participants. With Birlic International making the trip from Mozambique, the competition took on a clear cross-border feel.
