The Minister of Education Hon. Douglas Syakalima has announced the reduction of interest rate on student loans from 15 percent to 10 percent per annum beginning 1st January 2024.
The reduction on student loans will apply to all beneficiaries.

The students from Mulungushi university that were left out on the student loan awards are appealing to the government to reconsider them without the help they can't withstand and Excel their tertiary education.

According to the statement that the HELSB issue on 26/7/2023 on their official page. The board received 4,496 Applications for sponsorship at Mulungushi university first year students out of that only 200 were ineligible and 4,296 were eligibly qualified to attain the sponsorship however, the board only awarded 1,403 first year students while leaving out 2,893 eligible students.
The affected students cry out to the government to reconsider them atleast the reasonable number to be awarded during the second selection.
