Senior Chief Kopa Invites Mpika Trades Training College, Allocates Land and Building for Development
Kanchibiya, Zambia β February 7, 2025 β In response to an official invitation from Senior Chief Kopa of the Bisa people, a delegation from Mpika Trades Training College, led by Dr. Mooya Philimon, visited the Chiefdom to discuss development opportunities for Kanchibiya.
During the meeting, the Royal Establishment, through its spokesperson Mr. Kanjela, welcomed the engagement and reaffirmed its commitment to fostering progress in the area. As a demonstration of this commitment, Senior Chief Kopa allocated 200 hectares of land along the Kanchibiya River to support training and skills development initiatives.
Additionally, the Chief has granted a former secondary school building, covering 500 meters by 300 meters, to be used for educational purposes.
Dr. Mooya Philimon expressed deep gratitude to Senior Chief Kopa and the Royal Establishment for their generosity, emphasizing that the land and infrastructure will be used to expand technical and vocational training opportunities for the people of Kanchibiya and beyond.
βWe are honored by this invitation and grateful for the Chiefβs support. This gesture will enable Mpika Trades Training College to introduce more skills training programs, ultimately benefiting the community,β said Dr. Philimon.
Also present at the event, Hon. Brian Bwalya, Councilor of the area, thanked Senior Chief Kopa and Mpika Trades Training College for working together to facilitate development in Kanchibiya. He highlighted that the initiative will provide valuable skills, create job opportunities, and contribute to economic growth in the region.
Plans are now underway to develop the land and repurpose the building for training programs that will uplift the local population.
