Meet Dr Chopo Mwanza, our Vice Chancellor Designate.
Dr Mwanza grew up in a Christian home memorising Scripture, attending church, and even winning prizes for Bible verses.
But for a long time, the gospel didn’t feel personal.
He wrestled with doubt, especially about whether God truly loved him.
Then one day, hearing John 3 explained, it finally clicked: God didn’t just love the world—He loved him.
That truth changed everything.
As a young boy, Chopo placed his faith in Christ, no longer doubting but resting in the reality of God’s love.
Though he once dreamed of becoming a lawyer, God was shaping a different path for him.
From preaching in school as a teenager to serving in his local church, the call to ministry grew steadily stronger.
Chopo became certain that God was leading him into pastoral ministry.
Today, his heart for the church is unmistakable.
He believes the local church is central to God’s mission, and he loves shepherding God’s people.
That same conviction shapes his ministry at Central Africa Baptist University.
He is committed to training and discipling men and women who will faithfully serve and strengthen the local church across Africa.
Behind his ministry is a strong support system: his wife, K***a and their three children.
Join us in praying for Dr Mwanza as he prepares to lead CABU in January 2027.
