WHAT I LEARNT FROM MY FATHER
——————————————————

CUT THE NAILS NOT THE FINGERS

One great leader is said to have uttered the following words..."when our nails grow, we cut the nails and preserve the fingers even when we know that more nails are bound to grow. In life especially leadership, we must learn to DEAL WITH ISSUES AND PRESERVE RELATIONSHIPS even when we know that more issues are bound to rise in future"

To be an effective leader, learn to deal with matters and yet mainatin relationships with your team members who clashed or had a different stance from you. Unpleasant moments will always arise in any normal team. But we must deal with them and keep our relationships.

PASTOR CHRIS OYAKHILOME

✨HE PAID IN FULL FOR EVERYBODY✨

MONDAY OCTOBER 14TH 2024

Therefore let it be known to you, brethren that through this Man is preached to you the forgiveness of sins (Acts 13:38 NKJV).

The word "forgiveness" in the verse above is more accurately translated "remission," meaning the removal of sins. The ensuing verse 39 NKJV says, "and by Him everyone who believes is justified from all things from which you could not be justified by the Law of Moses." What does it mean to be justified?

It means to be declared righteous, to be declared not guilty. Through Jesus Christ, we’ve been acquitted of all accusations. You’ve been absolved of all guilt; no charges against you. It’s for the same reason that the Bible says there’s therefore now no judgement or condemnation for the one who’s in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1).

Consider this: if you owed me some money, and someone else came and paid the debt for you, I would cancel the debt because it was paid on your behalf. The person who paid didn’t owe me anything; you were the one who owed me, but he came and settled your debt. Now, would it be right for me to claim that you still owe me? Of course not! Even though you didn’t pay by yourself, someone else came and paid for you. The moment he paid, you became free.

In the same way, when Jesus paid for our sins, God cancelled the debt, and said, "You’re justified!" What does that mean? It means you’ve been discharged and acquitted; no charges against you. So, when we preach the Gospel, we tell the world, “You don’t have to struggle to be righteous; you don’t have to struggle to qualify for God’s blessings; all you need is to embrace what Jesus has done.

Accept His redemptive sacrifice in your behalf and stay in Him. Everything He did was for you. He was wounded for you; He died for you; He was buried for you. He went to hell for you, so that you don’t have to go to hell. He was raised from the dead for you, with a new life. Now that you’re born again, you have the same life with which He was raised from the dead. Walk in the consciousness of this new life: “Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life” (Romans 6:4).

PRAYER

Righteous Father, I thank you for the sacrifice of Jesus in my behalf by which I’ve been made righteous. I walk in, and manifest your righteousness. I’m washed, sanctified, glorified, and justified, walking in newness of life, and in the light of my righteousness in Christ. Hallelujah!

✨DIVINE WORSHIP✨

TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 24TH 2024

For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of His Son (Romans 1:9).

What a remarkable statement Paul made in the verse above. It's amazing to serve God, not with the flesh, but with your spirit. This is true divine worship, where all you do—your whole life—is a life of worship. That's why God's people everywhere must be taught and trained to respond to Him with their spirits because faith is the response of the human spirit to the Word of God.

In the New Testament, there’re several words translated into English as "worship." One of them is 'latreuo,' which means to serve God as seen in Romans 1:9. Another word that’s more familiar to many is 'proskuneo,' which is often translated as worship and refers to an act of worship.

For example, in Matthew 4 during the temptation of Jesus, when the devil offered Him the kingdoms of the world, Jesus responded, "...Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship (proskuneo) the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve" (Matthew 4:10). Here, worship is an act—a physical expression like lifting hands, singing, bowing, or prostrating oneself.

Then there's another one, which is a state of mind, described by the word 'sebomai.' This denotes a religious disposition or mindset, where one might engage in certain religious practices out of tradition or reverence without necessarily knowing or loving God deeply.

This was the case with the woman named Lydia in Thyatira, described in the Bible as one who worshipped God—a term indicating religious reverence rather than an actual relationship. Jesus addressed such practices, saying, "This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me" (Matthew 15:8). But she gave heed to Paul’s message and was converted (Acts 16:14).

When hearts are distant from God, worship becomes vain, as it substitutes doctrines of men for true spiritual connection. But true worship, however, involves serving God with your spirit—an intimate, heartfelt communion with Him—aligning your spirit with His in genuine devotion. Hallelujah!

PRAYER

Dear Father, thank you for revealing to me the essence of true worship. I serve you with my spirit, to live in intimate communion with you every day. My life, resources, thoughts, words and actions are a continual offering of worship, reflecting your glory and purpose. I’m empowered by your Spirit to align my heart with your Word for my worship to be acceptable and pleasing to you as a sweet-smelling fragrance, in Jesus' Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:

John 4:22-24 NKJV

22- You worship what you do not know; we know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews.

23 - But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.

24- God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth."

Philippians 3:3

- For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.

Mark 7:6-8

6 He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.

7 - Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

8 - For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.

✨FAITH CAN BE “SEEN”✨

SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 22ND 2024

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1).

There's something profound about faith that needs to be clearly understood. Faith can be “seen,” howbeit, not with the optical eyes; it’s seen in the spirit. The definition of faith as read in Hebrews 11:1 is an explanation as God, by the Spirit, presents it to man. In the spirit, it's not put in those words because faith is of the spirit and can be “seen” in the spirit.

Take for example in Mark chapter two when Jesus was in a house teaching and the Bible says the place became packed with people that there was no space left, not even near the door. Attempting to press through that crowd were four men, carrying a paralyzed man on a mat. But due to the large crowd, they couldn't get through the door to where Jesus was and so decided to go up to the roof, dug through it, and lowered the paralyzed man down on his mat, right in front of Jesus. The Bible says, "When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee" (Mark 2:5).
Jesus “saw” their faith; how? In their action! Paul had a similar experience in Lystra with a certain man who was crippled from birth and had never walked. The Bible says, “The same heard Paul speak: who stedfastly beholding him, and perceiving that he had faith to be healed, Said with a loud voice, Stand upright on thy feet. And he leaped and walked” (Acts 14:9-10).

Notice the Word “perceiving”; it actually means “seeing”; Paul “saw” the man’s faith in the way he listened and received the Word. The Complete Jewish Bible actually says, Paul, “...looking at him intently and seeing that he had faith to be healed, said with a loud voice, “Stand up on your feet!” He jumped up and began to walk” (Acts 14:9-10 CJB).

Faith is seen in your words, actions, and even your disposition. Faith is not passive or docile; you prove your faith by your actions. That’s why the Bible says, “Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone” (James 2:17). Faith isn't a response of the brain or of the mind; it's the response of your spirit to God's Word. Hallelujah!

PRAYER

Dear Father, I anchor my faith firmly on your Word, regardless of the circumstances or reports around me. I see beyond the natural and perceive your will and purposes through the eyes of faith, in Jesus' Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:

Romans 10:17

- So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

James 2:17-18

- Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

Hebrews 11:6

- But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.

Acts 14:8-10 AMPC

8 Now at Lystra a man sat who was unable to use his feet, for he was crippled from birth and had never walked.

9 This man was listening to Paul as he spoke, and Paul looked intently at him and saw that he had faith to be healed,

10 and said with a loud voice, “Stand up on your feet.” And he jumped up and began to walk.

DON'T PRAY FOR GOD TO REMOVE YOUR ENEMIES FROM YOUR SPACE - THERE ARE DIVINE LAWS KEEPING THEM AROUND

One of the things which I hear people ask me is "pastor why can't people who don't like me just leave me alone? Why are they stalking me?"

Well I have some news for you, much as God can take them away from your space, it is not his best preference. Some scriptures I read made me somehow conclude that God is not so concerned about removing them. Here are some of them which will show you God's mind on this:

1. Through David he said "you prepare a table (a feast) for me in the presence of my enemies" - Psalm 23:5 .

This means their presence is not a factor. You should be able to feast. This means they don't bother you. Just go on and enjoy your life

2. Through the Lord Jesus he said “Look, I am sending you out as sheep among wolves. So be as shrewd as snakes and harmless as doves." - Matthew 10:16

Oh wow wow wow what a scripture! Did you see that? He is not saying be worried cause the wolves will tear you apart. A thousand times no. He only said one thing; BE SMARTER THAN THEM and dont be as evil minded as they are. stay innocent but be smarter as snakes.

3. Oh then listening to my father Pastor Chris last week I heard the one which made me realize what God thinks should happen among my enemies ( I mean those who have taken a posture of an enemy towards me). He doesn't want me running away from them or being concerned about them. Speaking to the Lord he said:

"The LORD shall send the rod of thy strength out of Zion:
rule thou in the midst of thine enemies"- Psalms 110:2

Somebody did you see that? He did not say cry because of your enemies. He did not say run away from your enemies. He did not say cry in their midst. He said RULE THOU IN THE MIDST OF THINE ENEMIES.

This passage shows God's mind about how to respond to enemies. Yes he was talking to the Lord Jesus but we are his body. We operate like and as Him.

Are there people that have made themselves enemies against you and you wonder why they are not leaving your space? Stop crying about this. Enjoy the threefold blessing of having them in your space:

1. They will watch you feasting
2. You will be smarter than them
3. You will rule in the midst. They can't stop you.

By the way others may even get upset with you for commenting on posts like this but somebody say "I rule in the midst of my enemies"
