NASA has classified Snake plant, now called Dracaena, as an air purifier due to its ability to remove toxic compounds such as benzene, formaldehyde, trichloroethylene, xylene and toluene.
This plant uses the acid metabolism of the Crassulacee to exchange oxygen and carbon dioxide, enabling it to resist drought.
The microscopic pores on its leaves, called stomata, open only at night to limit water loss through transpiration in the heat of the sun.
Unlike other plants, Snake plant produces oxygen and absorbs carbon dioxide at night, making it an excellent indoor air purifier while we are asleep....

GROWN IN ZAMBIA: MEET THE HARDWORKING PEOPLE BEHIND KASISI ORGANIC OATS

Meet Vincent Choongo and Deadrick Hadunka, the men playing a leading role in growing the Kasisi Organic Oats.

Mr Choongo has worked for Kasisi Agricultural Training Centre (KATC) for 33 years while Mr Hadunka has worked for 17 years , with Mr Choongo heading the Production Unit, Mr Hadunka joined him after working as an Extension Officer for the institution.

The two share a deep passion for sustainable organic farming practices and have a special bond with the land they cultivate, apart from oat farming, they also grow Maize, Sunflower, Wheat, Hay, Soya Beans, Beans and many other crops organically on a 50 hectares of land of Kasisi Agricultural Training Centre

With many other helpers they tirelessly work day in and day out to grow the finest Kasisi organic oats that you now see on your shelves.

Their commitment to quality and dedication to the craft of organically farming the oat crop can be seen through every step of the process - from planting the seeds to nurturing the crops, and finally harvesting the oats.

Despite the challenges they sometimes face - be it unpredictable weather, pest infestations, or long hours under the scorching sun – Mr Choongo and Mr Hadunka have never given up on the crop .

So next time you pick up a package of Kasisi organic oats from your shelves, remember these two great men behind the scenes who put their heart and soul into growing the oats that nourish our bodies.

Their legacy will live on in every wholesome mouthful, reminding us all that it is possible to grow crops organically on a large scale and that it is also possible to eat healthy food.

You can find Kasisi Organic Oats in Shoprite Outlets. They are proudly grown in Zambia. Always remember to buy local and eat local.
