ZIBFS CBU Chapter Visit to ZRA – Bridging Theory and Practice 📚➡️🏢

On the 10th April, members of the ZIBFS CBU Chapter had an enriching and insightful visit to Zambia Revenue Authority Nchanga House in Kitwe. The experience was aimed at bridging the gap between classroom learning and real-world application, and it truly delivered.

During the visit, we gained practical exposure to key tax concepts and systems, particularly the Smart Invoice system, which plays a crucial role in enhancing tax compliance and transparency.

The session provided a deeper understanding of how tax administration works in practice, including VAT processes, compliance requirements, and the importance of accurate record-keeping in businesses.

Interacting with professionals from the Zambia Revenue Authority gave us valuable insights into the expectations, challenges, and opportunities within the tax and finance field. It was an eye-opening experience that emphasized the importance of applying theoretical knowledge in real-life scenarios.

We are grateful to ZRA for hosting us and for their commitment to educating future finance professionals. Experiences like these are essential in shaping competent and industry-ready graduates.

Financial Literacy Week was successfully commemorated under the theme “Smart Money Talks”, bringing together students and financial enthusiasts to promote sound financial management and awareness. The event was proudly hosted by the Zambia Institute of Banking and Financial Services (ZIBFS) Copperbelt University (CBU) Chapter.

A key highlight of the week was the Financial Literacy Conference held on 20th March 2026, which provided an engaging platform for discussions on smart financial practices, budgeting, saving, and investing. The conference attracted notable participation, including a special visit from the ZIBFS Mulungushi University (MU) Chapter. Their presence added great value to the event, fostering collaboration, knowledge sharing, and networking among students from both institutions.

The interaction between the CBU and MU chapters emphasized the importance of unity and collective learning in shaping financially responsible individuals. Participants left the conference equipped with practical insights and a renewed commitment to making informed financial decisions.

During the 2026 Financial Literacy Week under the theme “Smart Money Talks,”Zambia Institute of Banking and Financial Services-Cbu Chapter in collaboration with Mukuba Pension Trust ,had the privilege of visiting Hellen Kaunda Secondary School.

The engagement focused on empowering learners with important financial knowledge and career insights. Key discussions covered career opportunities in banking and finance, as well as pension and insurance management. We also highlighted the importance of insurance and pensions in securing long term financial stability.

In addition, learners were introduced to practical financial skills such as saving, budgeting, and investing critical tools for making informed financial decisions and building a secure future.

It was inspiring to interact with such enthusiastic young minds.

This March, the ZIBFS CBU Chapter is rolling out an exciting lineup of activities focused on growth, impact, and connection.

On 15th March, we kick off with a dynamic Speakers’ Symposium, creating a platform for learning and professional development. On 19th March, members will engage in a meaningful visitation to Hellen Kaunda, reinforcing our commitment to community service.

The Financial Literacy Week Seminar follows on 20th March, equipping participants with valuable financial knowledge and practical skills. We wrap up the month on 21st March with a fun and relaxing Braai Party, celebrating teamwork and camaraderie.

March is set to be engaging, educational and impactful for all members.
