Media Educational Tour at ZNBC.
Yesterday, May 7th, 2024, the University of Zambia Records and Archives Management Association, the University of Zambia Library and Information Science Association, and the University of Zambia Information and Communication Technology Association, organized a highly enriching Media Educational Tour at the Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation (ZNBC). We extend our heartfelt appreciation to ZNBC for their warm welcome and for hosting us with such generosity.
During the tour, our students had the unique opportunity to explore three specialized librariesāAudio Library, Video Library, and Video Archivesāalong with the Archival Repository. These facilities house an extensive collection of both current and non-current audiovisual materials, representing invaluable assets to the nation of Zambia. Additionally, our visit to the IT sections of ZNBC allowed students to witness the sophisticated IT infrastructure that is crucial for the operations of the national broadcaster.
This tour was particularly beneficial for our first-year through fourth-year students, as it provided a practical perspective on how theoretical knowledge is applied in a real-world setting. It was inspiring for our students to meet and interact with journalists they usually see on television, enhancing their understanding and connection to the media industry.
As executives, we are committed to ensuring that our term of office is marked by opportunities that explore every high-profile institution in Zambia. We believe these experiences are vital for nurturing the passions of our students, who are the future human resources of our country. We look forward to organizing more such educational tours that provide significant learning opportunities and foster professional growth among our students.
