🎓 FINAL YEAR PHARMACY: 5 SURVIVAL TIPS 📚📖
Final year isn’t about being the smartest in class — it’s about becoming professional.
Here are 5 things I wish every final-year student knew:
1️⃣ Think like a pharmacist, not a student
Stop asking “What will be examined?”
Start asking “How does this affect the patient?” 💊🥼
That mindset changes everything.
2️⃣ Learn principles, not piles of notes
You won’t finish everything — and that’s okay.
Understand mechanisms, guidelines, and treatment patterns.
Principles help you reason, not panic.
3️⃣ Treat ward rounds (clinical rotations) like job interviews
Be punctual. Be curious. Be prepared.
Attitude and consistency are remembered long after grades. 🕐
4️⃣ Make clinical pharmacy your strength
Drug interactions, dose adjustments, ADRs — this is where you become useful, not just correct.
5️⃣ Protect your energy
Sleep. Eat. Rest. Reflect.
Burnout ruins more final-year students than exams ever will.

🏁 Final truth:
Final year rewards consistency, curiosity, and discipline — not last-minute brilliance.
To every final-year student: show up daily. The confidence will come.

MY STORY

After my father’s death, many relatives walked away. What remained was a single mother whose belief in me never failed. She taught me how to read, write, and believe in myself. Even when I doubted my abilities and felt limited by my environment, she saw potential.

My early schooling in Chawama, Mtendere, and later Livingstone was joyful and stress free. That changed in Grade 10 when my mother’s business collapsed and I had to move to Nampundwe. I resisted at first, but with my uncle’s support, I adjusted and did well.

After Grade 12, doubt returned. I nearly stopped believing in my future and refused to apply to university. My application to UNZA happened only because my mother and Kelvin(a friend) insisted.

University humbled me. From long queues in first year to deep self discovery and later finding love, UNZA shaped my character more than my confidence. It taught me endurance, resilience, growth, and purpose.

Lessons I Learned

1. Self belief drives achievement. I found it late, but it made the difference.

2. Support matters. My mother and uncle stood by me when I struggled.

3. A strong relationship with God gives direction. It helped me avoid harmful choices.

4. Growth begins outside comfort. Leaving general work at Sable to attend UNZA changed my life.

5. No one succeeds alone. Progress requires people, guidance, and shared effort.
