GIDEON ROBERT UNIVERSITY
SCHOOL OF PHARMACY
📢 MEMORIAL ANNOUNCEMENT 📢
Dear Pharmacy Students,
It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that the Gideon Robert University Association announces the passing of our beloved preceptor, victor phiri, from the University Teaching Hospital (UTH).
Victor phiri was not just a preceptor—he was a LEGEND. A force of nature. The man who made grown pharmacy students contemplate career changes after one ward round.
Let's be honest: UTH will never be the same. Cancer Disease Hospital will never be the same. And honestly, some of you are secretly relieved you won't have to face those legendary "constructive criticisms" anymore. (We see you. We know.)
MEMORIES WE'LL NEVER FORGET:
- Students literally sprinting in the opposite direction when they saw him approaching the ward
- That look he gave you when you couldn't pronounce "methylprednisolone" correctly (we all felt that)
- The way he could smell unprepared students from three corridors away
- His impossible standards that somehow made us ALL better pharmacists
- Those punishments that felt like warfare but taught us EVERYTHING
Yes, he was tough. Yes, he was demanding. Yes, some of you probably had nightmares about patient case presentations. But here's the truth: victor phiri. He pushed because he believed in excellence. He was hard on us because he knew the patients we'd serve deserved the best.
Behind that intimidating exterior was a man deeply committed to molding competent, confident, and compassionate pharmacists. His impact on our profession and on each student he mentored is immeasurable.
UTH has lost a pillar. We have lost a mentor. Pharmacy has lost a guardian.
Rest in peace, mr phiri. Heaven better be ready for some SERIOUS ward rounds.
Arrangements for a memorial service will be communicated shortly.
