Lusaka Business and Technical College (LBTC) is one of the leading TEVET Institutions providing technical and entrepreneurial training in Zambia. LBTC boasts of a high-quality training standard and is now looking for suitable candidate to fill the vacancies in the following positions:
LECTURERS
Principal Accountabilities
Report to the Head of Departments.
Lecturers will be the key persons in the provision of the service of education in the departments. His/her principal accountabilities shall include the following:
• To provide instruction to students through explanations of subject matter using classroom demonstrations, exercises, question-answer sessions and evaluations of students
• Develop a class schedule consisting of daily lesson plans that include demonstrations, handouts, tests and assignments
• Make sure that the subject matter is presented effectively and content is readily accessible to students.
Lecturers are required to make:
• PowerPoint presentations to encourage active participatory learning and note taking helps students put concepts in their own terms
• Providing worksheets and handouts allowing students to test their knowledge
• Prepare complete worksheets and answers for assessment tests and availing these to students for them to make comparisons and correction
• Develop evaluation to assess each student’s performance and progress Assess students’ work against plagiarism
• Maintain assessment records for all students
• Provide office hours allowing students to come for individual help
1. LECTURER IN GENERAL HOSPITALITY - 1
Subject areas of specialization
• Food Productions
• Food and Beverage Services
• House Keeping/laundry
• Interior Decoration and Land Scaping
• Front Office Operations
• Food costing and Control
Qualifications:
• Full Grade 12 Certificate with 5 Credits or better including Mathematics and English
• Bachelor’s degree in Hotel Management from a recognized and accredited Institution of higher learning
• Teaching Methodology
• Teaching experience is an added advantage
• Must be a member of HCAS
2. LECTURER HAIR DRESSING AND COSMETOLOGY -1
Subject areas of specialization
• Plating Skills
• Manicure and Pedicure
• Skin therapy(massage)
• Facials
• Make up
• Hair coloring
• Chemical Reformation of Hair
Qualifications:
• Full Grade 12 Certificate with 5 Credits or better including Mathematics and English
• Advanced certificate in Hair Dressing and Cosmetology
• Diploma in Hair Dressing and Cosmetology is added advantage
• Teaching Methodology
• Teaching experience is added advantage
3. LECTURER FASHION AND DESIGN -1
Subject areas of specialization
• Pattern Making
• Textile Technology
• Fashion illustration
• Garment Construction
• Fabric Printing/Batik tie and dye
• Modern Sewing techniques
• Clothing Industry trends
Qualifications:
• Full Grade 12 Certificate with 5 Credits or better including Mathematics and English
• Diploma in fashion and design.
• Degree is added advantage
• Teaching Methodology
• Teaching experience is added advantage
4. LECTURER IN ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING - 2
We are seeking for a candidate with the ability and interest to conduct independent and innovative research and delivery of training at the forefront of modern digital design and experimental modeling alongside providing education in the area through the provision of stimulating and authentic learning environments and experience
Core competences
• Able to prepare and update learning content in a variety of digital platforms
• Be responsible for the delivery of teaching and coordination of the relevant units as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Must have domain expertise in Electrical and Electronics including and not limited to; Electrical machines, Electronics, Instrumentation and Electrical motor control.
• Must be someone who can get up to speed quickly, thrive on digesting lots of information, mindful of contrasting priorities and able to shape activities in a sustainable manner
• Must be prepared to serve as a role model in an inclusive workplace
• Must be prepared to understand the demands of digital learning environment on the students and embrace the blended model of teaching, balancing in person and remote learning activities for large and small groups of students
• Must be able to supervise research projects at Technologist diploma level
Qualifications:
• 5 ‘O’ levels including maths, science and English
• Professional Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Technical Teacher’s Qualification
• Must be a member of EIZ
• Three years teaching experience
5. LECTURER IN AUTOMOTIVE ENGINEERING -1
We are looking for a candidate who will contribute to our maintaining a welcoming, inclusive and inspiring environment for our students and whose expertise will complement our existing capabilities.
Core competences
• He must be one who is passionate about both research and teaching and who is keen to explore new collaborations and new approaches if possible.
• He must be one who has the potential to make a positive difference to our departmental activities and culture.
• Must be able to carry out teaching duties to students including but not limited to Workshop Practice, Workshop Processes, Engine and Transmission systems, Automotive Electrical and Electronics, Suspension and Steering systems, Advanced Motor Vehicle technology and Braking Systems.

6. LECTURER IN WATER OPERATIONS AND SUPPLY - 1
Subject areas of specialization
• Water Plant Operations
• Workshop Practice and Processes
Qualifications:
• 5 ‘O’ levels including maths, science and English
• Minimum Qualifications –Diploma in Water Operations and Supply
• Bachelor’s degree in Water related field is the Added advantage.
• Technical Teacher’s Qualification
• Must be a member of EIZ
• Three years teaching experience
7. LECTURER IN PLUMBING AND SHEET METAL - 1
Qualifications:
• Full Grade 12 Certificate with 5 Credits or better including Mathematics and English
• Advanced certificate in plumbing and sheet metal
• Diploma in plumbing and sheet metal is added advantage
• Teaching Methodology
• Three years teaching experience
8. LECTURER IN COMMUNICATION SKILLS - 1
Qualifications:
• Full Grade 12 Certificate with 5 Credits or better including Mathematics and English
• Degree in English with Education
• Three years teaching experience
9. LECTURER IN ICT - 1
Subject areas of specialization
• Computer Programming
• Management Information
Qualifications:
• Diploma in ICT
• Degree is added advantage
• Teaching Methodology
• Three years teaching experience
