*MY ATTACHMENTS EXPERIENCE 😁 πŸ”₯*
Meet *Ethel Banda* an incoming *Third Year* Student pursuing *Public Health* as she highlights her experience during practical attachments.

Ethel shares:

During my attachments at Mini Hospital, I rotated through several departments including OPD, ART, Pharmacy, Screening Room, MCH, Labour Ward, and Counselling Services. This experience gave me practical exposure and helped me understand the importance of public health service delivery.

At the Outpatient Department (OPD), I observed patient reception, history taking, vital signs assessment, documentation, and general patient management. OPD served as the first point of care and emphasized early diagnosis and proper references
In the ART department, I learned about the care and follow-up of clients living with HIV/AIDS, including adherence counselling, confidentiality, and drug refills. This showed the importance of continuity of care and HIV prevention in public health.

My time in the Pharmacy exposed me to drug dispensing, storage, stock management, and patient education on medication use. I learned how proper drug management contributes to effective treatment and patient safety..

At the screening room, I assisted in taking vital signs such such temperature, weight and height. The experience highlighted the importance if early screening and detection of conditions like hypertension and fever.

In the Maternal and Child Health(MCH) department, I observed antenatal care, immunization, family planning and growth monitoring. These services play a key role reducing maternal and child morbidity and Mortality

In the Labour ward, I observed the care given to mothers during labour and delivery, infection prevention practices and immediate newborn care, which emphasized the importance of skilled birth attendance.
In the counselling services, I learnt how patients are supported psychologically through Health Education, HIV counselling and guidance on chronic illnesses, promoting pos

*MY PRACTICAL ATTACHMENTS EXPERIENCE 😁πŸ”₯* Meet *Kuzipa Nakazwe* an incoming *Third Year Student* pursuing *Environmental Health* as she gives an insight on her experience during Practical Attachments.

Kuzipa Shares:

Im currently doing my attachments at the Chingola Municipal Council under the public health department where there are a number of services offered. I started my attachments last week and in one week's experience, I got to learn about meat inspection and how important the process is. I learned on the services offered at the funerals department. I also learned on the importance of ensuring that the environment we are living in is conducive, for instance, the pictures above show me together with my other team players as we went around Chingola town centre liming and chlorinating the public toilets, stagnant water as well as the dump sites which can pose a risk in transmitting communicable diseases such as cholera... Seeing that there have been confirmed cases over the past few days.

*MY PRACTICAL ATTACHMENTS EXPERIENCE 😁 πŸ”₯*.
Meet *Sakala Sinai* an incoming *Fourth Year Student* pursuing *Public Health* as she shares her experience during practical attachments.

Sinai Shares:

I am currently doing my attachments in EASTERN PROVINCE, CHIPANGALI DISTRICT AT KASENGA RHC AND MINI HOSPITAL. These attachments have exposed me to real life issues that the community is facing such as poor access to clean water, long distances to health facilities, stigmatization concerning HIV/AIDS, poor knowledge about CERVICAL CANCER and many other diseases and the need for our services in the community. So far the journey has been amazing, full of lessons and corrections, learning the importance of team work as well as consultation from fellow colleagues, professional conduct at work place and many other things.
From my experience, PUBLIC HEALTH is beyond what we picture and beyond what we learn in class. The community needs our services, the community needs people who are available to attend to them and it's you and I that have to be available to attend to the people.

BE THE VOICE , BE THE SOLUTION, CHOOSE PUBLIC HEALTH 🀝.
