HH ORDERS ARREST OF LAWYERS HELPING MUNDUBILE FILE PETITION, JUDGES TOLD TO REJECT CASE
A well placed source has told Kachepa360 that President-elect Hakainde Hichilema has instructed the law enforcement agencies to identify and arrest lawyers preparing the presidential election petition for NRPUP presidential candidate Brian Mundubile.
According to the source, the lawyers could allegedly be charged with abetting an attempt to overthrow a legitimate government.
The source claims that the scheme is intended to prevent Mundubile's legal team from proceeding with the planned presidential petition and to avoid any delay to Hichilema's planned inauguration.
Mundubile's camp is expected to challenge the announced presidential election results, citing alleged irregularities and other concerns surrounding the conduct and tabulation of the August 13 election.
The last 72hours have seen Lusaka lawyer Celestine SAKALA and former Constitutional Court Judge Anne Mwewa Sitali arrested on flimsy charges of being illegal immigrants and on felony charges.
And Hakainde has given strict instructions to the Judges in an event that Mundubile is allowed to file in petition to ensure petition is thrown away and cite lack of sufficient evidence of electoral malpractice.
The allegations raise serious concerns about the independence of the legal process and the constitutional right to challenge election results through the courts.
