BUILDING A STRONGER BOARD CULTURE FOR GREATER IMPACT
The Higher Education Loans and Scholarships Board (HELSB) is hosting a two-day Board Culture Training from 20–21 August 2026 at Southern Sun Ridgeway, Lusaka.
Led by Board Chairperson Mr. Leonard Mwanza, the engagement brings together the HELSB Board and Management to reflect on how a strong organizational culture can strengthen leadership, governance, accountability, teamwork and institutional performance.
The training is being facilitated by Mr. Pepe Milambo of Motivation Hub, who is supporting the Board and Management in exploring practical approaches to strengthening leadership effectiveness and organizational culture.
Speaking at the opening, HELSB Chief Executive Officer Dr. John Machayi emphasized that the way the Board and Management work together ultimately influences the quality of decisions made and the impact HELSB has on the students and communities it serves.
“Let us use this opportunity to build a culture that delivers results, inspires confidence, and advances the HELSB mandate.”
The training provides an opportunity for the Board and Management to reflect openly, challenge constructively and agree on practical commitments that will strengthen HELSB’s governance and performance.
Ultimately, culture is demonstrated through our actions, decisions and results. The true measure of this engagement will be how we translate these reflections into stronger governance, better teamwork and improved service delivery to the students we serve.
