HELSB Strengthens Community Engagement Through Participation at the Kuomboka Ceremony in Western Province

The Higher Education Loans and Scholarships Board (HELSB) participated in this year’s Kuomboka Traditional Ceremony in Mongu District, Western Province, underscoring its commitment to enhancing service delivery and ensuring that all eligible Zambians have access to higher education financing opportunities.

Through a dedicated exhibition at the ceremony, HELSB showcased its comprehensive range of services, providing members of the public with accurate and timely information on student loans, scholarships, eligibility criteria, and application procedures. The exhibition allowed direct interaction between HELSB staff and attendees, enabling the public to seek clarification, ask questions, and gain a deeper understanding of the opportunities available to them.

Applicants were also assisted with online application processes for HELSB student loans, particularly those applying to the ten universities whose student loan application adverts are currently open and running concurrently. This support ensured that prospective students could navigate the application system efficiently and complete their submissions correctly.

The information provided was particularly valuable to school leavers seeking to access student loans and scholarships for the current academic year, equipping them with the knowledge and guidance needed to make informed decisions regarding their higher education journey.

The Kuomboka ceremony attracted thousands of participants from across the nation, making it one of Zambia’s most significant cultural events. In addition to HELSB, the event hosted a variety of stakeholders offering other services, creating a dynamic platform for engagement, awareness, and community interaction.

HELSB’s participation at the ceremony reflects its ongoing commitment to inclusive outreach, transparency, and effective public service delivery. This initiative forms par

HESLB Highlights Student Loan and Scholarship Opportunities at UNZA Open Day 2026

The Higher Education Loans and Scholarships Board (HESLB) took center stage at the UNZA Open Day 2026, held at the University of Zambia under the inspiring theme “Discover, Connect and Succeed.” The event provided a vibrant platform for learners to explore academic opportunities and career pathways, while connecting with guidance teachers and key educational stakeholders.

The occasion was graced by Prof. Borniface Namangala, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics) at UNZA, who served as Guest of Honour. In his keynote address, Prof. Namangala encouraged learners, recent school leavers, and stakeholders to plan strategically for the future, make informed educational choices, and embrace lifelong learning. He emphasized that HESLB plays a critical role in removing financial barriers through student loans and scholarships, ensuring that talented students have the opportunity to succeed. He further urged guidance teachers and stakeholders to mentor learners, highlighting that collaboration between schools, families, and institutions is key to student achievement. In keeping with the event theme, he reminded everyone to “Discover your potential, Connect with the right support systems, and Succeed in your academic and professional journey.”
