Did you know that teaching your child to write their name in ALL CAPITAL LETTERS isn’t necessarily the best place to start? 👀✏️
As a primary school teacher, this is something I love sharing with parents!
When children begin learning to write their name, encourage them to use:
✨ One capital letter at the beginning, followed by lowercase letters.
For example:
❌ OLIVER
✅ Oliver
Why does this matter?
✏️ It introduces children to the correct written form of their name from the beginning.
✏️ It helps them become familiar with lowercase letters, which make up most of the words they’ll read and write.
✏️ It supports the development of consistent letter formation habits.
✏️ It can reduce the need to relearn how to write their name later.
And remember, if your little one is already writing in capitals, that’s okay! It’s still an exciting achievement. Simply begin modelling their name with a capital first letter and lowercase letters.
Learning to write should be fun, positive and pressure-free. 💕
Save this for when your little learner starts writing their name! ✏️ or if you’d like personalised name overwrites for your child to work on the correct way of writing their name….well hello..this is one of my fav products I create ❤️
