NIKERI was honoured to travel to Bindal Country (Townsville, QLD) earlier this month to participate in the National Indigenous Learning Support Conference (NILSC). Hosted by JCU: Indigenous Education & Research Centre at James Cook University, our team contributed to conversations about supporting students to succeed in all stages of their higher education journey. Connecting with First Nations teams from other universities allowed us to share successful practises, identify opportunities, and sync in with key messages that collectively empower and strengthen our Institutes across the continent, empowering us to support our students in their success. Thank you to IERC for hosting this important event.

Throughout July, we hosted 'Mob Days' at Warrnambool, Burwood and Waurn Ponds campuses. These events were an opportunity for students to connect with student services staff and learn more about study supports available at Deakin.

At each location we engaged a local artist to lead a collaborative painting where students and staff were all encouraged to contribute. We'll share more about the finished artworks soon!

Finally we had the deadly Gammin Threads team offering t-shirt workshops for everyone who came along!
