BUFT Students Gain Practical Industry Exposure Through Industrial Visit to Fakir Knitwear Ltd.

BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) organized an industrial visit to Fakir Knitwear Ltd. on 24 October 2026, providing students with valuable hands-on exposure to industrial operations and manufacturing processes.

The visit was facilitated through the coordination of Dr. Engr. Md. Sohag Miah, Head of the Department of Textile Engineering & Management, in collaboration with Mr. Sumon Kante Singha, Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), Fakir Group, and Mr. Md. Habibur Rahman, Assistant Manager, HR, Fakir Knitwear Ltd.

During the visit, students explored the knitting process from the fundamentals, gaining practical insights into yarn-to-fabric production and examining different types of fabrics. They also observed fabric washing operations, including the step-by-step processing of grey fabrics. Additionally, students visited the cutting floor, where they observed the operation of different cutting machines, including automatic and semi-automatic systems, and learned how Computer-Aided Design (CAD) is applied in garment manufacturing.

The visit bridged the gap between academic learning and industrial practice, enabling students to strengthen their technical understanding through firsthand observation of real-world manufacturing processes.

BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) extends its sincere appreciation to the management and concerned officials of Fakir Group and Fakir Knitwear Ltd. for their cooperation, hospitality, and for providing students with this valuable learning opportunity.

📰 BUFT–CRISAT 7th Textile Research Conference (TRC 2026) to Be Held on 31 October

BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT), in collaboration with CRISAT, is set to organize the 7th Textile Research Conference (TRC 2026) on 31 October 2026 at the BUFT campus in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

The conference, themed “Innovation in Textile and Fashion,” will bring together academics, researchers, and industry professionals to exchange research findings, explore emerging technologies, and discuss innovations in the textile and fashion sectors.

The event will also feature the CRISAT–CENTRO Digital Fashion Catwalk Competition 2026, including its live final round, alongside the CRISAT Research Competitions and Presentations 2026.

The conference aims to promote research excellence, encourage academic–industry collaboration, and advance sustainable innovation in textiles and fashion.

BUFT Organizes Workshop on “From Classroom to Business: Powered by Odoo”

The Department of Business Administration, Faculty of Business Studies, BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT), organized a workshop titled “From Classroom to Business: Powered by Odoo” on 26 October 2026 at Room 208, BUFT. The session was conducted by Ms. Nafisa Rahman, Education Consultant at Odoo, and attended by students from different batches of the BBA program.

The workshop introduced students to practical business applications of digital tools and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, highlighting their role in integrating business operations and developing career-ready skills. The Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies, the Head of the Department of Business Administration, and faculty members of the department also attended the session, reaffirming BUFT’s commitment to industry-oriented education and digital skills development

BUFT Signs MoU with Odoo Middle East DMCC to Enhance Digital Skills

BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Odoo Middle East DMCC on 26 October 2026 to strengthen industry–academia collaboration and enhance students’ practical knowledge and digital competencies. The MoU was signed by BUFT Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan and Ms. Nafisa Rahman, Education Consultant at Odoo Middle East DMCC, at a ceremony held at the university’s conference room.

The partnership will provide BUFT students and faculty members with access to industry-relevant digital tools, educational resources and training in enterprise resource planning (ERP), accounting, inventory management and other business management applications. The initiative aims to promote practice-oriented teaching, support faculty development, bridge the gap between academic learning and industry requirements, and improve students’ career readiness in an increasingly digital business environment.
