f at Blackpool Sixth are delighted that Ofsted has awarded the college ‘Outstanding’ status once again. This follows a full inspection of the college in December 2021. The report is full of praise for the college, its students, staff and governors. The inspectors said that, ‘Students find the college a truly aspirational place to learn’ and praised the ‘calm, professional and inclusive learning environment where students feel safe and can flourish.’

Today, the entire Digital Academy stepped out of the classroom and into the cyber battlefield for an incredible, hands-on learning experience. We had the absolute pleasure of teaming up with James Darwent from DiSH (Greater Manchester Digital Security Hub) for an immersive LEGO Cyber Simulation task, and it was an absolute blast.

Throughout the session, our academy members navigated seven intense rounds of simulations. Instead of just reading about theory, we put our strategic thinking to the test! We were tasked with budgeting and buying essential cybersecurity measures to protect our infrastructure against a relentless wave of ongoing risks and threats.

It was a fantastic, high-energy way to understand the real-world pressures of allocating resources and responding to cyber attacks. Who knew defending networks could be this much fun?

A huge thank you to James for delivering such an engaging session. The whole Digital Academy is walking away with sharper skills and a renewed passion for cyber resilience.

Ryan has demonstrated exceptional effort throughout his studies, consistently pushing beyond the basic requirements of both BTEC and Computer Science courses. He regularly takes the initiative to research advanced concepts independently, refines his programming work to a high standard, and shows outstanding resilience when tackling complex technical challenges. His determination, problem-solving skills, and commitment to improvement make him an excellent role model within Business & IT.

It's been a fantastic few weeks for our ACA Visual Arts department!

Alongside saying fond farewells to our Upper Sixth students, our BTEC Fashion students wowed audiences with their stunning 2026 Fashion Show before half term. More than 160 guests filled the Halliwell Theatre to enjoy an exciting and eclectic showcase of student creativity, design, promotion and marketing. Congratulations to everyone involved, and a special thank you to our volunteer models who did such a professional job on the runway.

Meanwhile, our BTEC Art & Design Class of 2026 celebrated the launch of their end-of-year exhibition at the wonderful HIVE Gallery on Church Street, Blackpool. The launch evening featured excellent entertainment from fellow ACA students and musical duo, Harmonia. The exhibition showcased a wide range of creative specialisms from 24 talented students, highlighting the hard work, dedication and skills they have developed over the past two years.

There's also still time to enjoy our brand-new Digital Arts Exhibition, located on the mezzanine level at Sainsbury's, Blackpool. This exciting exhibition celebrates digital work created across a range of our A Level Visual Arts courses by 20 talented young creatives. The display features digital illustration, photography, surface pattern design, graphic design and much more.

The Digital Arts Exhibition will remain on display until July. Congratulations to all of our talented students whose work is being showcased!
