“I can honestly say that I am the happiest I have ever been.” 💚

From navigating the challenges of living with cerebral palsy to reaching the final of Britain's Got Talent at 14 years old with her stand-up comedy routine, Eva Abley has had an extraordinary journey.

Now a first-year Occupational Therapy student at Keele, Eva reflects on the experiences that have shaped her, how comedy helped her find her voice, and the journey that has brought her to where she is today.

And, of course, she shares a few stories from her time on Britain’s Got Talent – including what Simon Cowell is really like!

90 years young. Seven days a week. And still going strong 💪

Meet Tom Conroy - Keele University campus resident, 90-year-old fitness enthusiast and a familiar face in the gym at Keele University Sports Centre, where he’s been working out for more than 30 years!

Every day, Tom spends around 90 minutes at the gym, putting the rowing, bike and weight machines to good use, before heading out for a long walk around campus - and he shows no signs of slowing down.

And to celebrate Tom's recent 90th birthday, we were delighted to give him an honorary membership to Keele University gym! 💚

For Tom, staying active and getting out in the fresh air are key to his physical and mental wellbeing.

His passion for fitness goes back to the 1970s, when he opened a boxing and keep-fit gym in Audley, Staffordshire, to give local young people somewhere to go, stay active and build confidence.

This week, Keele alumnus and musician Andy Quin returns to campus to perform a live, improvised score for the silent horror classic Nosferatu 🎹🦇

Back in 2024, ahead of returning for a concert in the Chapel, we caught up with Andy to hear about his time studying music at Keele and the projects he’s worked on since graduating.

It’s great to welcome Andy back to Keele and celebrate the work of one of our talented alumni!

We were delighted to welcome Her Excellency Susanne Baumann, German Ambassador to the UK, to Keele University last night for the latest lecture in our Keele World Affairs Forum series. German Embassy London

Appointed to the role in 2025, Ms Baumann delivered a talk entitled ‘EU & UK: Separate or Converging Paths?’, exploring the evolving relationship between the UK and the European Union, and the opportunities and challenges shaping their future relationship.

We would like to thank Her Excellency Ms Baumann for joining us at Keele and sharing her insights, as well as everyone who attended and contributed to the discussion.

Our observatory was founded in 1962 and hosts a telescope dating back to 1874 that Albert Einstein is believed to have used.

Open to the public from 8pm-10pm on Tuesdays, and 1pm-3pm on Saturdays.

The new academic year is always an exciting time at Keele, but even more so this year as we welcome our first-ever cohort of engineering students, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Engineering at Keele.

The new class of students is the first to embark on Keele’s new suite of engineering degrees, launched for the 2026/27 academic year and marking the first time in the University’s history that students can study Engineering at Keele.

Drawing on the West Midlands’ rich engineering, manufacturing and industrial heritage, the new courses are designed to prepare students for the evolving challenges facing the engineering industry, from the transition to more sustainable technologies and processes to the growing demand for innovation and advanced skills.

Lighting up campus ⭐️

This week, the Keele community came together for a spectacular Lantern Parade, bringing the 2026 Diversity Festival to a glowing close.

After a number of lantern-making workshops, approximately 200 people came together to light up campus with over 80 handmade lanterns, celebrating creativity, connection and belonging.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part and helped make the evening so special.

With thanks to the Keele Key Fund Forever Keele for supporting the event, delivered in partnership with Arts Keele , Campus Life and Keele SU.
