What happens when painting moves beyond the canvas and into cloth, clothing and fashion?

Painted Garments explores the creative intersections between painting, textiles and dress — bringing together artists, designers and academics whose work exists between image, fabric and the body.

From painted depictions of garments to fashion inspired by fine art, and works created directly onto textiles, the symposium opens up conversations across disciplines, materials and making practices.

Join us for a day of talks, discussion and creative exchange at the crossroads of art, fashion and material culture.

Ever wondered what’s really inside paint? Pigments Festival is a unique event taking place on Thursday 21 May 2026, where BA Painting and BA Illustration students come together with world-leading experts from Colart — the company behind Winsor & Newton and Liquitex.

A geologist, a chemist and artists dig into the science, history, and future of pigments and what sustainable art practice actually looks like.

The festival brings climate, social, and racial justice into creative practice — making these big issues feel tangible and relevant to work as an emerging artist or illustrator.

This is a chance to rethink the materials, meet people shaping the future of sustainable art supplies, and connect with a network of like-minded creatives.

This is ‘The Tourist’ – a project from Lithuanian-born, London-based visual artist and illustrator Nerijus Malinauskas.

It's a critical visual exploration of what it’s like to be a tourist in London, exploring themes of environment, consumerism, and local identity through a combination of photography, illustration, ceramics, and street intervention.

To discover ‘The Tourist’ as well as more student projects from Camberwell graduates, visit UAL Showcase – the always-on platform for UAL students to display their work: https://bit.ly/41LvAXW
